WIAW : leading up to a big race

I have a big race this coming Sunday. After I realized I had not paid my registration fee, I was upset but eventually found a bib to buy. The race organizers were great about putting me in touch with someone who could not race & officially transferring their bib and number to me. So on Sunday, I will be running as Karen and not Anais !

I wanted to clean up my diet in the days leading up to the race, so I would be in great shape nutrition wise. While I have been trying to be a bit more attentive, because I would like to lose a few pounds, the travel of the past 2 weeks has proved challenging. Well, I am at home the next four days and so clean eating and correct fueling are on the agenda !

Here is what I ate yesterday :

Breakfast : sweet potato patties and almond butter

Lunch : butternut squash (I LOVE this and its back, with the fall veggies !), broccoli and veal burger

Dinner : butternut squash (yes again), roasted Brussel sprouts and chicken :

The only other thing I ate but did not take a picture of : half a banana, an apple and “Moo-less chocolate mousse” from the 21 Day Sugar Detox Cookbook (Diane Sanfillipo) made with avocado, coconut milk, banana and chocolate powder.

Do you clean up your diet in the days leading up to a race ? Did you notice is helped your race performance ?

I’m happy to hear you were able to get a bib for this race! I usually eat more complex carbs (like sweet potatoes) and try to lessen my caffeine intake, which is very difficult for me. I also try not to overload on sugar all the time, but especially before a race. Good luck!
