Weekly wrap : Life, fitness & fruit

Hello Sunday ! Has spring made it to your neck of the woods ? We had sun this weekend but it is still relatively cold here in Paris.

Here is the randomness of another crazy week :

Life : A quick trip across the pond and back

I had to go to Toronto for work, so I left Wednesday and was back Saturday morning. Although always somewhat tiring, I am very grateful to have the chance to travel with my job. We were at on offsite 90 minutes north of Toronto. Gorgeous lake views at a country club resort !

A selfie in work clothes !

Fitness : Got it done !

Despite the travel, I did get in lots of variety this week.

  • Tuesday : lunchtime run and 75 minutes of yoga in the evening. I was so pleased to go back to yoga, it had been a while.
  • Thursday : 4:30 a.m. tabata workout in the hotel (I was up and the gym didn’t open until 6:30)
  • Friday : elliptical workout in the gym of the above country club resort. I didn’t take a picture as I was very self conscious working out next to my client !
  • Sunday : 11K run in the bright morning sun. Working on my speed.

Summer fruit is here ! I have had major cravings for fruit lately, so I have eaten ALL the fruit.

If you missed last week’s weekly wrap, you can check out my 2 posts from Rome :

Rome part 1

Rome part 2

I am linking up with Holly and Tricia at Hoho runs and Misssippipiddlin for their Weekly Wrap.

Has summer come to your neck of the woods ? What about all that yummy summer fruit ?

You look so pretty in your pictures! We all clean up so nicely, don’t we?

It’s still really cold here too. I don’t know where spring is.

Thanks Wendy. 50 degrees here today. Not much fun but I am still going to garden a bit.

You did great with your workouts even though you were away from your normal routine! You may have mentioned this in a previous post but I must have missed it, what do you do for work?

      Thank you.

That Toronto resort looks beautiful! And that fruit looks delicious. I’ve been craving a lot of fruit recently too.

I am counting the days until the melon and cherries arrive on our stands.

I find it so amazing that you can work out during your traveling! I go to visit my family, and I have a hard time sticking to any working out!

that trail next to the water looks amazing!

Our weather is very cold today for a may, it is very weird, and I’m over the cold already. I’m ready to complain about the heat.

LOL ! I am ready to complain about the heat too. And I am lucky I have such great places to run 5 minutes from where I live.

I could not agree more with regarding all the great fruit. Our Saturday Farmers Market is stocked with so many good choices. I tried a new one this week called a pluot, I think. It was good. It was basically a firm plum.
That is so cool that you get to travel so much for your work. Nice place you stayed too!!
That lake trail looks fabulous to run on.
Great job getting in so many workouts while away from home.
    Have a wonderful week Karen!

Thanks Diane. I have never heard of a pluot, and we have a ton of choices here in France. I am going to go look it up !

Thanks Darlene. I always take several selfies from several angles and in different lighting. I never know how they are going to come out, but one is usually good. I actually don’t know where to look at the camera !

Spring and summer seem to be on hold everywhere. Crazy ! Then again, temps are better for running….

No summertime temps yet in Iowa…we kind of “rewinded” a bit to winter on Saturday…temps in the high 30’s/low 40’s and major wind…but the snow has stayed away. #glasshalffull

Don’t EVEN get me started on the weather here. It’s a really sore point at the moment.

Cherries are here! Our food bills actually increase dramatically with cherry season, those little suckers are expensive!

Great that you can still find the time to workout while traveling. I have been making fruit salads love a good fruit salad. I’m sure the weather will improve soon. Hope you have a great week.

The weather is looking pretty decent for the week here, fingers crossed.

Oh, gosh, I’d be self-conscience working out with a client too. When I’m at a conference I try to hit the gym early so not too many people see me as a sweaty mess. That resort looks lovely!

I don’t like much working out with colleagues, but it is hard to avoid at conferences. A client ? Yeah, that was pretty weird !

Summer shows up for a day or two then goes back into hiding. I can’t get anything done outside with this crazy weather.

    • Karen - Fit in France May 17, 2016 at 8:04 am Reply

It was nice here yesterday so I worked on my balconies all day… major cleaning and added my flower pots. Now let’s just hope the weather is nice enough for me to enjoy them !

My son visited Toronto and loved the area! The place you stayed looked great.
It has been raining here for almost three weeks, just a few days all that time, it is getting old.
I love fruit, I need to start bringing it to work for snacks, I have slacking at my food prep.
It would feel strange to exercise with work people…
Nice job on getting it done 🙂

I love your work selfie! Great job in getting your workouts in while traveling. It is already very warm and humid here, which I’m not so happy about. The only saving grace is I’ll start water skiing very soon. I enjoy all the colorful fruits. I’ve been stuck on blueberries and raspberries for a while. The watermelon peaks here around July 4th so I look forward to that. Thanks for linking with us Karen.

LOVE blueberries ! I am from Maine and there are so many, but you can not find them here. One of the rare things I still can not get ! France !
Boo to humid weather… I am sure you are used to it, but I suffer in it.

I thought most hotel gyms were open 24/7? Hate yours was not but you got in a workout! I struggle to get in fruits, I just don’t like many. I love the flavors just not the texture of most fruits. 🙁 Enjoy your week Karen!

I am pretty disciplined when it comes to travel and running. It also helps me focus on keeping my body healthy rather than eating crap food we are generally surrounded by while on the road.

Great job getting in your workouts amidst your travel! I will never understand why hotel gyms don’t open until 6:30 AM. That is not early enough! I love it when a hotel has a 24 hour gym, that’s the best.

I don’t understand why they open at 6:30 a.m. either… but then again, I wouldn’t go at 4 a.m. for security reasons. I feel so unsafe being the only one there.
