Weekly wrap #5 : Back to school

School started in France this past week, so that means we all hit the ground running. My girls are older now, so pretty much manage themselves but there are still papers to sign and books to cover.

Despite the general craziness, I managed to get in quite a few workouts. I had gone to have my orthodics adjusted recently. The muscle in the front of my right leg would tighten up and take forever (30 minutes) to loosen. So my podiatrist adjusted them and I absolutely wanted to try them out.

Workouts :

  • Monday : 6,5 km on the treadmill
  • Tuesday: Back to school, no fitness
  • Wednesday : 9 km run
  • Thursday : off
  • Friday : upper body weights and ab work at the gym
  • Saturday : 16,5 km long, slow run
  • Sunday : I so wanted to go to the pool but it was closed, reopening on Monday. So I decided to run again, 6 km. The weather was glorious and my legs felt pretty good.

Overall, my shin muscle felt great and is no longer tight, my I have this small tweak in my knee, under my right kneecap. I am going to wait a bit and see how it evolves before going back to the podiatrist.

Life : Here are random pictures from my phone / life this past week.

After all the indulgence of vacation, I was dying for veggies but also craving carbs.

On Saturday I wanted to cook and had been dying to try a recipe from Deborah at Confessions of a Mother runner, Summer Veggie Lentil Loaf. I had bookmarked it back in August and had yet had a chance to make it. It was so good !

Farmer’s were protesting in Paris this week, and 1 500 tractors came to the city. This was taken from my office window one morning. They poured into the city. Roads & traffic were messy that day…

I am thinking of getting new glasses. Not only is my face really narrow, but I cut my hair recently and it is short, so my old ones look way too big. Even without the new haircut, I think they look too big which is why you hardly ever see photos of me in my glasses !

So I went and tried on some news ones. Plastic frames are still in style here… there wasn’t much choice of anything else.  I think these fit pretty well but I still haven’t decided…

We have many house projects going on at the moment, and one of them includes getting rid of an old couch. It is in really good condition and I want to give it away but no takers. I sent this photo to my niece this week… hoping she’ll want it (without the cat of course) !

I am linking up with Hoho runs and Misssippipiddlin for their Weekly Wrap up link up. Be sure to check them out and share the blogger love with all the other fun ladies doing the link up !

I am traveling for work this week so will probably be MIA a bit. How was your week ? Crazy with back to school ? Do you like picking out glasses ?

I wear contacts so I only get new frames every decade or so. I don’t even change the lenses all that often & I take them off when I want to read!

I think those frames look nice on you.

This week is busy for me but not because of back to school, trying to squeeze in my fitness around vet appointments.

Indeed, vet appointments also make life busy. Contacts & I were never a good fit….

I had to chuckle about the pool being closed. I wanted to swim Friday after work and both of the pools I belong to (my Masters swim club and the health club) are closed for maintenance right now. Ugh! I like the new frames on you, they look good. Have a good week!

Pool closing sucks, especially since I even looked on line to check the hours !

I wear mono vision contacts (one for reading, one for distance) and do not wear my glasses out of the house. You should see how old mine look! I like the new ones you tried. I also like your shorter hair. I used to wear mine very short but have let it grow out. It stays in a ponytail now. Not the best style. It looks like you had a great week. Have you officially started your marathon training yet? Thanks for linking up with us!

Marathon training officially starts beginning of October ! I am traveling the next couple weeks then things will settle down before officially kicking it off.
I actually like wearing glasses. The last day I wore contacts was for my wedding… 19 years ago !
Thanks for the linkup ! Always nice catching up with everyone.

Many thanks ! I actually like picking out glasses… insurance used to cover a new pair every year, now it is every 2 years… so I have to make sure I really like them, they have to last !

I’m not good at picking out glasses! I let the opticians help me. I need to go again…I’ve got that old-lady-can’t-see-up-close thing going on…

Loved the lentil loaf, and the spicy BBQ sauce was great with it.

oooh lentil loaf. I wonder If my kids would go for that? Congrats on everybody getting back to school. In a weird twist of fate I too have a couch I’m trying to give away, I hope we both find takers.

I had lasik surgery about 8 years ago. It’s been great to not wear glasses. Have a good week!

Oooo, so scared of having lasik surgery…. really scared. Anything eye related makes my stomach turn just thinking about it.

Looks like you had a great week as well! What is up with the pool closings anyway? I think you look fabulous in the frames! I need reading glasses but instead of getting them, I just got a bigger phone, lol. Not sure how I am going to avoid this for much longer. So glad you joined us for Weekly Wrap, I enjoy reading your blog and can’t wait until you start training for your marathon too. I’m so nervous about mine. This is actually Week #1 but after my half I think I’m officially starting with week #2! 🙂
