Crazy isn’t it, that it is the end of July ? We are on vacation as of next Friday and are extremely excited ! Five more days of work then I am off for three weeks.
How was your weekend ? Mine was filled with family, exercise and the Tour de France.
On Saturday I got up early and got in a long run. You can tell it is summer time in Paris because there were very few people out :
Usually the park is much busier at 8:30 a.m.. I got in 16 km and it.felt.great. I had fueled correctly all week, felt rested, and the weather was nice and cool. One of those perfect runs.
As soon as I got home I left for the airport to pick up my brother, sister in law and their children who are staying with us for the week then using our place while we are away. We hung out the rest of the day, as they were a little jet lagged. I was so happy. I hadn’t seen my brother in 3 years and I had never met his youngest daughter.
While everyone slept Sunday morning I went to the pool to swim laps. I hadn’t been in a while and it felt great to be back ! Despite it being vacation time in Paris there were a lot of people. (now I know why they were not in the park, they were all at the pool !)
My brother is a biker and so being in Paris on the last day of the Tour de France, of course we had to go to see the finish.
We went early so we could walk around a little bit before the bikers came through. OMG. It was crazy. We avoided the Champs Elysees and went around the Tuileries / Louvre where there are supposed to be fewer people. Not. Look at the crowd :
And it was unfortunately pouring rain.
So we walked around a bit, buying t-shirts and taking selfies. The weather was seriously very bad. Windy, rainy, cold. After about 90 minutes
the kids we had had enough, so we headed home and watched the bikers from the comfort of a warm apartment and cushy couch. Of course by that time it had stopped raining and the sun had come out. Gggrrrrrr……
It was still a nice day, and spending time with family was great. My brother and SIL are both very active, outdoorsy people so we have a lot in common and always lots to talk about. Their two girls are absolutely lovely and it is so much fun being around very young children. We made an octopus and dinosaur with play doh, something I haven’t done in ages.
Sunday was also the day for packing, as I am traveling this week, leaving Monday, back on Thursday. The week will fly and I am looking forward to my daughters coming back on Friday.
I am linking up with Tara at Running n Reading for the weekend update. Be sure to check out the other bloggers and share some blogger love.
Would you have waited in the pouring rain to see the bikers ?
