Weekend : spring has sprung

It was a good weekend. Well, it has actually be a wonderful past few days. And the weather is FANTASTIC, which has given me extra energy !

We had American friends arrive last Thursday and we went and had dinner with some French friends. There were 6 adults and 9 teenagers / kids (one missing from the picture). So much fun having everyone together, seeing kids play soccer, seeing our American friends try French foods.

For some reason I was up really early on Saturday morning (5:30 a.m. !) so by 8 I was ready to exercise. It was gorgeous out and for 8 a.m. there were quite a few people.

I completed nailed my first half marathon two weeks ago and I hadn’t run much since, wanting to give my body a rest. I felt great, starting off with a walk / run for 3 km, then ran 8 km. It was a really good run, although I didn’t want to push it and go too fast.

We have been having a Spanish student stay with us for a week, as part of an exchange with my daughter’s school. We went into Paris to walk around the Latin quarter, the Jardin des Plantes and took him to a typical café to have a Croque Monsieur and a Parisian coffee. It was a beautiful day here in Paris (photo : Jardin des Plantes)

On Sunday I was up early, AGAIN. This is what our town looks like before anyone gets up – no cars, no activity – just a quiet Sunday morning where people are not yet out and about.

So I went to the pool and swam laps for an hour.  It felt great. If I get there when it opens at 8 a.m. there are usually not too many people and I can have a lane to myself. I love the pool but I don’t like navigating around swimmers. I can never seem to find someone who swims at the same pace I do.

I took our Spanish student to the airport end of the morning. There was a ton of traffic coming home. Ugh. Only crappy happening of the whole weekend.

Then I spent the afternoon reading, blogging and taking advantage of the 70 degree weather by sitting on the balcony. I also spent a heck of a lot of time this weekend researching, and thinking about  this :

Yes. I have signed up for my first marathon. #Excited

Good luck to those running Boston today, with a special shout out to TinaAngela, and Jen.

How was your weekend ? Has the spring weather come your way ?

I am such an early riser. I have 2 to 3 hours to myself before anyone else gets up.
