Hello September and happy Labor Day to my friends, family and fellow bloggers in the US. I am linking up with DeborahCoco and Lynda for this month’s virtual coffee date. So grab a chair and let’s catch up !

If we were having coffee, I am sure we would chat about vacation, kids and running !

We had our big 3 week vacation in August (living in France definitely has its perks). We were in the South Western part of France, near Bordeaux, Arcachon and in the Basque region. We had a fabulous 3 weeks, and fully enjoyed each other and our family. Both my husband’s family…..

… and my brother and his family. We also caught up  over coffee !

I highly recommend that part of France for vacation. So much to see and do.

If we were having coffee, I am sure back to school would be on the agenda. My kids are now a freshman and a junior. In their junior year they need to pick a certain track (math/science, literature, economy…) and my daughter has chosen literature / languages. While she has always liked school I have never seen her so excited. She LOVED everything about this past week. Aie ! They are growing up way too fast…

I love seeing them both blossom into confident, happy, interesting and kind young adults. I sent the eldest one to the states to work for 6 weeks in June / July (it is next to impossible for young people to find summer jobs here) and it transformed her. She worked at  Paul’s marina, making sandwiches, scooping ice cream, driving the boat and serving lobster. She came back all grown up ! A big thanks to my parents and my friend Helene for having her and carting her around. It was a lot of work for them, but such a great experience for her.

I am sure over coffee we would talk about running. Only one more month until Paris marathon training begins. I ran a lot this summer ! 130 km in August. I have also decided to go back to yoga. I had stopped going a few years ago and favored the pool, but I think it will be very complimentary to my training, even if I will miss my water aerobics class and the fun group of ladies. I think I am going to try to do my long runs on Saturday, so I can go to the pool on Sunday for some recovery laps.

It was a great summer, but I am also happy that fall is coming and the routine it brings. The only thing I am not looking forward to is the shorter days.

If we were having coffee, what would you want to talk about ?

Even though I like fall & I hate the heat, I HATE when summer ends — because that means winter is coming. They say it’s going to be another bad one.

That must’ve been hard having your daughter gone so long!

I am used to having my kids gone in the summer. I send them to the US every year. I hadn’t heard the winter was going to be bad. Boo. Not fun !

Love your vacation pictures – and your vacation time! I am sure your family loved having your daughter. My kids both picked math/science majors since they didn’t much like writing papers!

Do your kids go to French schools or American high schools in France? Just wondering..

They are in the French school system. There are several international schools but none of them are near where we live….

What a fabulous August you had! We were in St Emillion a couple summers ago-its gorgeous and hilly. We did a bike tour through that whole region and loved it. Thanks for linking up with us for coffee today!

My youngest are Senior and Sophmore. It won’t be long before my nest is empty. What a fun summer it must have been for your daughter working at the marina! You know me and the water…I would have loved that. I’m excited for you and will definitely be following your marathon training!
