Virtual Coffee Date : November

Hello November and 70 degree weather ! I am linking up with DeborahCoco and Lynda for this month’s virtual coffee date. So grab a chair and let’s catch up !

If we were having coffee I would hope it would be outside at a café. We have had such great weather here for the past 2 months, I want to soak up every last minute. Because yes, Winter is Coming.

Over coffee I am sure we would talk about running. October is a big racing and training months for many people, so if you run I would want to know how things are going ! It was a good month for me, I completed 5 weeks of marathon training and am pretty happy with how things are going. I also had several races and completed my second half marathon, the Vincennes Half Marathon as a training run. While I wasn’t fast, I don’t care because that wasn’t my goal ! Having said that, I am actually quite happy that I don’t have another race, the Four Castles, until November 22. I needed a bit of a break. Especially since I am traveling internationally this week, the time zone difference and jet lag wouldn’t have worked out too well.

If we were having coffee I would want to know if you have started your Christmas shopping, or have anticipated your holiday plans. Going anywhere? My husband changed jobs within his company so won’t be able to take any time off. Most of our family in France is in and around Paris anyway, so we won’t need to travel.

Over coffee, I would like to know if you have made any good recipes lately ? I need some new ideas and they need to be very simple. All my meals look like this (roasted veggies & protein).

Over coffee I would want to know if you have ever done a Maximum Aerobic Speed test. With Paris Half Marathon registration you can do the test for free. A very interesting experience. 13 km/h was my result.

Over coffee I would like to know if you have a fitbit and if you like it. I just got one and I’m really liking (loving?) it. It is like this constant reminder to be good to your body, be active…. and wearing it is like this “announcement” to the world that you care about your health.  I feel  like I need to respect it and live up it its expectations because I am wearing it. Sound crazy ?

If we were having coffee we might talk about work. I changed jobs a little more than a year ago and looking back it has been a great year. I feel blessed for having the opportunities I do. I get to take initiative, travel and regularly work with people in about 15 different countries. I love the international element of my job. So many people are unhappy in theirs that I feel blessed to love mine.

Its usually very cold and rainy here during November so we are LOVING this ! 70 degrees this weekend.

Yes! I wrote a post about noticing when someone at a non-fitness event (work conference, church, etc) is wearing a fitness tracker. It is a sign of a common interest. I am in no way thinking about Christmas. I am going to have to break out the #respectthebird hashtag to fend off all this Christmas stuff until after Thanksgiving – although I know that’s a lost cause.

I had never seen that hashtag before. Lol !

I have made airplane reservations for our travel at Christmas, but otherwise not thinking about it. We will probably minimize gifts since our gift is being together and we have the challenge of luggage to get it all back home (my sister should bring an extra suitcase though, cause we’re all still going to buy for her little ones!)

We rarely do presents anymore as a big family. Not only does it save time and money, but I hate buying something for someone and they don’t use it. Such a waste of money for my pragmatic personality !

Like Coco, I want to respect the bird! But there is so much that has to be done, I can’t wait that long. I really don’t enjoy shopping, so that is the worst part of preparing for Christmas. I wear my Fitibt proudly. A few people recognize what it is. When I put a piece of jewelry on it, people think it’s a bracelet or a watch. Enjoy your weekend!

I make an effort not to be overwhelmed by the holidays and part of that is limiting parties / get togethers, but also I limit my decorating. We do a tree the first week of December, but for the rest, I’m a minimalist.

I’ve never done that kind of fitness test – sounds fascinating! I just did a general fitness assessment for the first time. Next I’d love to do a resting metabolic rate test.

I think doing different tests is always interesting. Always something to learn.

It’s fun to see what you eat in your local area. Sometimes descriptions are helpful, but I think I’ve got today’s figured out. Yep, my Fitbit is on right now. The worst is when the shopping cart’s bobbing puts it to sleep when I shop!

LOL for the shopping cart. I actually haven’t figured out to get it to go out of sleep mode. I can’t seem to wake it up !

      • Tina@GottaRunNow November 8, 2015 at 1:43 pm Reply

I give it a few taps. Sometimes, it takes a few tries, but eventually mine wakes up. Have fun with your new Fitbit!

I love my fitbit, I think it does make me move more and I participate in the challenges often. I’m so glad to hear your marathon training is going great. So far so good for me too. I have a tough month coming up with training but I have one long run behind me so I’m feeling as if I can do this!

That’s great about how good you feel about your marathon training! I have yet to take the leap from half to full. Maybe someday.

I had a fitbit once, it died JUST one week past the one year warranty. I was not a happy camper. I have Garmin Vivofit now and I love it so much more.

AS far as Christmas shopping goes I’m not done. Usually I try to be done by Thanksgiving, but that did not happen this year.
