Virtual coffee date : February 2016

Hello February ! As always, I am happy to catch up with DeborahCoco and Lynda and the rest of you for this month’s virtual coffee date. So grab a chair and let’s catch up !

If we were having coffee I would be very happy to see you ! I had a very busy month between birthdays, three business trips, family and a weekend away, so having a cup of cappuccino and sitting would be welcome.

I would want to know how your winter has been. It has been so mild here in France,  in the forties and fifties which is much warmer than it usually is. No complaints from my side. It has been glorious running weather.

Over coffee I would tell you I turned 46 this month. OMG, I have no idea how that happened. My eldest turned 17… wow.  To celebrate my husband and I usually go away skiing for a weekend but with marathon training, I figured that was not a good idea. So I had a nice weekend with my husband in Nice, France. I love having a weekend away mid January. It always gives me something to look forward to in the dead of winter.

Over coffee we would probably talk about running. I am finishing week 18 of my Paris Marathon training. I have had some very long runs and have been feeling great. On weekends I now alternate between a long run, mile repeats, and an easy 6 miles. And it will alternate like that until the marathon which is April 3rd. I am getting really excited. I have been training now since October where as most people are just starting. So the excitement is starting to grow. (photo credit Paris Marathon 2015 site)

If we were having coffee I would tell you I am happy to be part of the Grow your blog hop hosted by Kristy from Run away bridal planner. It starts February 8th and I think it will be an exciting way to get to know new bloggers.

That’s about it. I am happy that it is February because that means more sunlight. Indeed, I am getting a bit tired of running in the dark during the week.

How was your month ?

Happy birthday again! It sounds like you have been so smart with your training and it will for sure pay off. Kind of jealous of your weather this year. I am doing the second blog hop perhaps I will see you over there too. Thanks for joining us for coffee today!

I hope my training will pay off. I am getting damn excited.

Overall our winter has been very mild — still no snow on the ground, hallelujah! — but back and forth in the temps. Generally mild, but we’ve still had some really cold days too (more coming up next week).

Ha! 46 is young. I’m turning 54! And Darlene would tell me that is young . . .

I’m excited about the blog hop, too. And I’m so happy that your training plan is working so well for you!

At least your winter is much better than the polar vortex of last year. That was crazy !

I love winter trips too. It was Disney for us, where flower abound and birds sing. But then we come back home to full on dreary winter. Yuck. 46 is young! You could be the third sister in that picture! You’ve done so well with your training. That race will be here before you know it. I’ll be in the week 2 hop this time. I did her last two hops, and it is a lot of work but definitely pays off. Enjoy your weekend.

You are too kind about being the 3rd sister. But its true, I feel a lot younger than I am. Chalk it up to exercise and good eating habits, no smoking and very little alcohol.
I have to come to the US in March for work and am going to see my parents 2 days in Florida. We have been several times in the winter. LOVE it !

That’s such a great pic of you and your girls! You’ve been so diligent with your training and it’s going to pay off. Happy Birthday!

Mild winters are a treat. It’s my favorite running time during the year, so it is killing me to miss it.
I think Paris marathon is going to be great for you 🙂 you have done well training Galloway, I am excited for you.
46 sounds you to me now “) I have to start the big 5 0 this year lol

I may be 46 but I feel 10 years younger. I never would have known you were turning 50. You also look 10 years younger.

Not sure what I will do after the marathon. This training has structured my life for the past 4 months !

Happy birthday! It sounds like your marathon training is going really well – great work! Weather-wise, it’s been really mild here in England too (not a great surprise!) though we did have a cold spell a couple of weeks ago. Right now though, it’s just really, really wet – not good for walking or running.

Happy running (in more daylight) for February!

    • Karen - Fit in France February 7, 2016 at 8:15 am Reply

Rain and wet is not fun. Europe is so damp in the winter.
We have had a little bit of rain but I have managed to run between showers.

I’ve enjoyed seeing your training as well as your trip to Nice this month. Gosh your marathon will be here before you know it! Can’t wait! Thanks for the coffee!

That’s great that you’ve had a relatively mild winter. Us too, except for that 2 feet of snow that was dumped on us. I also am excited about the days getting longer. The darkness is always so depressing. I’m headed to Hamburg this week. It looks mild there too, although rainy.

Happy Birthday!! Mine is next month 😉 If we were having coffee (actually, I’d be drinking a chai latte’), I would tell you how wonderful it is to have longer daylight!!!!! I have not been out for early morning running (since last fall), but I have been enjoying not having to rush home from to work to get in a few miles before sunset. I’m so excited for you with your marathon coming up 😉
