Virtual coffee date : December

Hello December ! As always, I am happy to catch up with DeborahCoco and the rest of you for this month’s virtual coffee date. So grab a chair and let’s catch up.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I love the month of December. I love the decorations, the lights, the cold weather, the atmosphere, the Christmas music in all the stores and seeing friends and family. I am usually pretty good about not letting myself get overwhelmed. We don’t go overboard on presents and I am very picky about the parties I go to.  I want to enjoy the month, not feel like I am sprinting through it.

Over coffee, I would tell you I like to indulge in yummy treats December but I am very intentional about my choices. If you read my blog regularly,  you will know I have been working with Amanda Tress since mid August. She does on line boot camps and fitness programs and I am currently on my third one. I have toned up, slimmed down (reduced belly fat !), gotten stronger and learned more about nutrition and correctly fueling my body and workouts. So, I can indulge a bit but the program keeps me accountable and on track during the holidays.

Over coffee, we might chat about running (duh). If you haven’t read my NYC marathon recap, you can read it here. LOVED.EVERY.SECOND. I am also loving the fact I am NOT following a training plan at the moment. With Amanda’s on line bootcamp, we run 2 days a week along with full body workouts or weight lifting , both which can be done at home. This is suiting me fine. I think I needed a mental and physical break from so much running. I prefer running in daylight, at lunch time and on the weekends rather than getting up at zero dark thirty.

If we were having coffee… I would tell you that despite this small break, I am looking forward to running more once the new year comes. I haven’t buttoned down all my goals yet, but I have already signed up for 2 races in February, a 10K and a 5K, and am eyeing several half marathons. Maybe working on my speed will be my 2017 goal.

Over coffee I would tell you that I am off to the States this week. I have to be in NJ for work from the 12th to the 14th, so I am heading up to Maine to see my parents the weekend before. I am just hoping it is not too cold because I am not equipped for a Maine winter anymore.

And finally, over coffee I would tell you that come January I am going to take a break from blogging. January 1st will be my three year blogversary. These past 3 years have been amazing and I have met so many great people, but I need some down time. I want to spend more time with my husband and my girls, and take up some new activities. Those first months of the year are also when I travel most for work. And in all honesty, I need a bit of a social media detox. Will my break be permanent ? I don’t know. Will I blog now and then ? I don’t know either. It is such an important part of my life now, that of course I am a bit scared. But the timing just seems right.

It was great catching up. What would you like to chat about over coffee ?

Do you look forward to December ? Do you feel overwhelmed ?

How do you stay on track with eating and not over indulging during the month ?

Ever felt like taking a blogging break ?

I don’t seem to have problems with over-eating during the holidays (Thanks to running and overall being active), but I do indulge in sweets (even more than usual). I need to one of those cleanses…but that scares me cuz I’d hate all the “green” stuff with no sugar to pacify me (I know…high maintenance LOL). I totally get the blogging and the time commitment. I don’t get how some people can blog everyday and keep up with the commenting and reading other blogs….and still have a life away from their computers LOL I hope we can still stay in contact..and that your blog vacation is not forever 😉

I recently came back after what was supposed to be a permanent blogging break. It lasted 16 months. Good luck with your break and your social media detox. Sometimes we all need that.

I love Dec, too, but not for the normal reasons. I love it because it’s my wedding anniversary month (coming on 12 years, and I like the opportunity to reflect on the year and getting one last chance to make it amazing

Who knows, maybe I will be back in a couple months… I might miss it terribly, but focusing on family at the moment has been wonderful.

My goal is to enjoy the holidays and not sprint them too 🙂 I can understand the desire to take a break from blogging – I’ve cut way back this year to have time for other things. Hopefully we’ll stay in touch 🙂

I’m with you on the decorations + music + atmosphere, although I could do without the cold, hahaha. I hope you have fun in Maine and that you don’t freeze up there! I’ve never been but would love to visit someday–the photos have always looked so pretty! :]

Good luck on your blog break- it is a grind sometimes, so unplugging sounds very compelling! I hope you enjoy your visit to the U.S. and also holiday time!

Nooooo! You can’t take a break from blogging just as I’m getting started! I so look forward to reading your blogs and seeing your pictures ….as you are my connection to all things French right now 🙂 But, I do understand the time commitment it requires. I’ve only been doing this for a few months now and I honestly don’t know how people blog as often as they do. Hopefully, after a short break, you will miss us and want to come back! Hope you have a great trip to the states and a blessed Christmas!

I relate to the decision to stop blogging!!! I’ve thought many times about doing so myself, since it takes SO MUCH TIME. But the best part about it is that if you chose to come back, you can do so anytime. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading about your life’s adventures so I do hope you will want to resume!!! Travel safe to the States and happy holidays!!!

It isn’t just the blogging, its all the reading, commenting and social media that goes with it. It is a lot of work … which I love, it is just the timing isn’t great for 2017 with my daughter getting ready for college and work travel.

Great job sticking with your online training…congrats on your you successes I know that feels great!!

The December treats are so yummy!

I have enjoyed the reduction in running but my endurance has suffered a bit but working on it.

I hear you on the blogging break. When I did one over the summer, I missed blogging but really needed it. Getting back into it has been harder than I thought but its all good.

    Happy holidays!

I love blogging but I am feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the social media…. we did an experiment this weekend, no cell phone for my daughter. Her choice. She loved it and we connected so much more frequently than usual when teenagers have their phone.

Oh I am sad to hear that you may not be blogging into 2017! But I totally understand and know how overwhelming blogging and social media can be. I hope you have a great holiday season! I love this time of the year too.
