Virtual coffee date : April

I am linking up once again with DeborahCoco and Lynda for this month’s virtual coffee date. So grab a chair and let’s chat !

If we were having coffee, I would of course want to know how you have been, what you have been up to and how you are feeling. Catching up with friends is so important.

I am sure I would talk about my seriously crazy month of March. Prague, Las Vegas, Berlin, New York…. a whirl wind of travel for work. I love to travel, and love my job working with international clients, but I was also very happy to get home, sleep in my bed, and do “house things” like dishes and laundry. Selfies in Florida, Vegas

f we were having coffee I would probably chat about my half marathon which is tomorrow, Easter Sunday ! I signed up for a half marathon at the end of February to keep me focused and motivated to stick with exercise and clean eating during my March travels. I have only done a 20 K once before, so I am actually kind of nervous for tomorrow. I did the 20K in pouring rain and my IT bands got stiff around km 13, so the last 7 were quite painful. Keeping fingers crossed that tomorrow is nicer. They had been announcing rain all week but it looks like it will be a bit sunny. 12 Celcius = 55 Farenheit. The race is at 4:30 p.m. Isn’t that an odd time ?

SUN  and fifties!! Yeah !

I am probably crazy, because even if I tried a to follow a training schedule, I didn’t do so great. Week 1 went quite well, week 2 didn’t go that great, and then I stopped writing about training because it got worse. Just keeping my fingers crossed that I finish tomorrow in one piece and just have a good time.

f we were having coffee, I would probably talk about my friends who are coming from the US mid April. She is one of my best friends from high school and she is coming with her family… yeah ! I had helped their family and friends here in France  organise an exchange of their teenagers… so it is their turn to come to France. So excited.

My daughter is also part of an exchange with a Spanish school, so we are also hosting a student for a week mid April before my daughter goes to Spain for a week in May. I think cultural exchanges are always so beneficial for everyone involved…. experiencing a different culture, way of life, food !

Over coffe I am sure we would chat about fitness. Between vacation in Florida and travel for work my fitness and eating have had their ups and downs. I hadn’t been to my aqua aerobics class in 2 months, so I was happy to go back last night and see my Friday evening ladies, even if I am not smiling…

If we were having coffee I would tell you that we have decided where to go for our summer holidays, near Arcachon in the Aquitaine Region of France. We will be spending a lot of it with my SIL, BIL and nieces who have been spending the past year in Africa. They are coming home mid June, for two months and we are very excited ! We get a long so great and have missed them.

Over coffee, I am sure we would chat about Easter weekend, which is a 3 day weekend here in France. We get Monday off and are having my mother in law over for lunch. Because of my race Sunday we are not doing anything special Easter day. I have been staying away from the chocolate because of my training but have decided to reward myself with a pastry on Monday. Yes, their desserts are to die for.

Good luck on your Half Marathon! I need to get back over to Europe. My sister lives in Italy but it has been a few years since we’ve traveled to see her.

Lots to see and do over here and it is less expensive down that the dollar has gotten stronger against the Euro.

Several American bloggers are coming to Paris next week. The marathon route is a 5 minute walk from my house, around km 18. It would be so cool to see A US blogger.

Those pastries look amazing!! I’m not sure how well I would do with restraint around places like that. Then again, knowing that it’s an option any time can make treats easier to resist.

Having pastries like that easily available do make them easy to resist… but so does the price. At 5 dollars the pastry, it is not a frequent happening !
