Virtual coffee date – January 2015

Hello Saturday ! I am linking up with Deborah,  Coco and Lynda for this month’s virtual coffee date. Its a cold, rainy Saturday here in Paris, so a nice warm cup of coffee is welcome !

If we were having coffee this morning, I would ask you about your holidays and tell you about mine. I had 2 wonderful weeks off and took full advantage of the down time. Exercise, reading, spending time with family were on my agenda. I exercised almost everyday, and my body was loving me for it !

I would probably tell you that I saw friends and family during my holiday. Even if we don’t live too far apart, life is so busy that we hardly ever have make the time to see each other or catch up. Fun French festivities were on the agenda.

Over coffee, I would probably talk about Brussels. We spent a weekend there with my husband and children, at the beginning of the month. I had never been to visit and we loved it. If you get a chance to go, I highly recommend it. Its small, walkable, very pretty and has great food and chocolate ! The comic strip museum is fabulous, here in an art deco building.

If we were having coffee, I am sure I would chat about my trip next week to the US. I have to go for work Monday to Friday and am greatly looking forward to it. I haven’t been since June, so I always like to get my American dose : Starbucks and shopping are definitely on the list. I am also dying to go to Whole Foods. So many bloggers talk about this, and we don’t have it in France. …Definitely going to check it out.

And if we were having coffee, I would also tell you about my New Year’s Eve adventure…. We left our friend’s house around 2 a.m. and two minutes later arrived at a road block where the police were giving breathalyzer tests to at a huge intersection. There were probably 40 cars waiting in line. I had had 2 glasses of champagne and half a glass of red wine, over a 4 hour period. I had stopped drinking at midnight, so 2 hours before being stopped. Well, I passed the test after being a bit nervous that I wouldn’t (limit in France is 0,5 g / l, which is 2 glasses of wine) and I was actually very happy they were controlling everyone. This is the second time I have come to a roadblock where they are doing this. With my husband we always decide before hand who the designated driver is.

And the final thing I would chat about is my nails !I had semi permanent polish put on December 24th and it has not budged. They look as fabulous today as they did when I had them done. This is the first time I had tried this… and even if everyone says it is not good for your nail, once in a while it is worth it. I am really hard on my hands and I was very satisfied with the result and the long lastingness of the polish.

So, it was a very full month, fun but busy. If we were having coffee what would you chat about ? Ever had a breathalyzer test ? Had semi permanent polish put on your hands ?

 Have a great weekend !

I’ve not tried that kind of polish but it’s very popular here. No breathalyzer for me. I’m such a lightweight one glass of wine is more than enough for me. Glad you enjoyed the holidays!

I’m glad you were responsible on New Years – Good job!

I love the polish – how long does semi-permanent last?

The polish lasts 2 to 4 weeks. You need to get it taken off especially because your nails grow.

Happy New Year! No Breathalyzer for me but I am certified to do one 🙂 What is semi-permanent nail polish? You have me interested! Your pics of Brussels are beautiful!

Thanks for stopping by. Semi permanent is what they call it here in France. Not sure in the US. Gel ? It is polish that stays on for 2 to 4 weeks, and you have to go back and get it taken off. It doesn’t chip. The only inconvenience is that your nails grow, and it eventually looks funny, so you need to have it taken off professionally.

Since EVERYONE talks about WF, I am impatient. I think it will provide great lunch or dinner options instead of eating in a restaurant.

Good for you for exercising almost every day during the holidays!
I can’t believe that traffic stop. I’m so glad they were checking everyone though!

I have never had a breathalyzer test but it is such a great ideal and can save someones life so I think more States should offer it. I also had not heard of that type of Nail Polish but will check it out soon. I have not been anywhere outside the US but would love to one day.

Happy New year! Those roadblocks are quite common in Australia. We got stopped on our way home from the Hunter Valley where we had been wine tasting. Luckily my husband is very responsible and passed but it is one of those things that makes you kind of nervous. Personally I can’t have anything to drink at all and drive but that is because I’m a lightweight drinker.

It was indeed a bit nerve wracking…
