Virtual coffee date – December

I am joining DeborahCoco and Lynda for a virtual get together. Its a fun way to catch up with what has been going on in life over the past month.

I would love to be having this coffee date at Starbucks, I am a sucker for a Tall Cappuccino !

If we were having coffee,  I’d tell you…

…I am really loving my new job. I am learning a lot, meeting great people, travelling. Our industry is being challenged at the moment, times are tough, the French economy is really crappy… so many people are hating their job. I am feeling lucky.

…we are having many conversations with my sophomore about her junior and senior year, and higher education. In France you need to choose a ‘major’ for junior and senior year : math / physics, social sciences / economics, literature. Its an important choice because it generally dictates what kind of undergrad schooling you go into after graduating. My daughter is not 100% sure so that means many discussions on the topic, and we have several ‘fairs’ coming up also. Its hard for kids, I don’t want to influence her too much, but I need to encourage her. Decisions, decisions…

I’d also tell you…

…my kids are having a really good year at school. They are doing extremely well, like their classes, are getting along with their friends (which is great because junior high as a girl is awful), and just both in really.good.place. I love to see them happy.

…at one point in time we were thinking about getting a second cat. We are keeping my brother in law’s and sister in law’s cat for 2 months. I now confirm that we will NOT get a second cat permanently. Too much work, even if it is a really nice cat.

If we were having coffee, I might get around to mentioning that my left foot is bothering me and I think I have figured out why. I do water aerobics Friday night and we do a lot of jumping. Then I get up Saturday morning and run. I think it is just a bit too much.

If we were having coffee I would probably also talk about my upcoming vacation. Yes, we are on vacation a lot in France, I know. I have two weeks off at Christmas, and am looking forward to a major staycation. So much to do in and around the house ! Even thinking about doing some painting….

And of course I would listen to what you had to say ! Spending an hour with a friend is such a luxury, I don’t do it often enough, so I am sure you would have a lot to say to…If we were having coffee, what would you chat about ?

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you on this! So sorry crazy week. It is crazy having 2 kids in high school isn’t it? I am so much more relaxed now knowing that my daughter is into college. Interesting how you all must choose a concentration so young. We have no idea what we want to do over here! Didn’t peg you as a cat person at all! Thanks for linking up with us for coffee. I love to catch up with everyone that way! Have a great day

I am jealous of all your vacation. Really, I am just jealous of your living in France! I can’t imagine having to choose a major in high school, but my kids had gravitated to math and science by then, so maybe it’s not too unreasonable.
