Tuesdays on the Run : All I want for Christmas

I am linking up for the first time with Marcia at Marcia’s Healthy SliceMCM Mama runs and Patty at My no guilt life for Tuesdays on the run where today’s topic is runner gifts.

This is a very appropriate theme, not only because we are nearing Christmas, but because you can never have too much running gear. At least I think so. So this is what tops my list :

  • Winter gloves and hat. I have thin gloves and a wool hat. Neither were “made for running” so technically they are not that great. I get cold really easily and dear Santa, I would like anything to keep the extremities toasty. I recently saw some in Athleta but had a hard time shelling out 40 dollars for a hat, and the same amount for gloves. So I didn’t. Which is why its on my list.

I usually wear this neck warmer that doubles as a hat (race swag). Functional but not very nice looking.

  • Running vest. With marathon training I run earlier in the mornings and things are getting colder. A warm vest under the tree on December 25th would be perfect.
  • Compression socks. I do not have a pair, but they have been on my list for several months now ! I think my legs would love them. Any brands you would recommend ?
  • Waterproof mascara. If its cold, my eyes water. Then I look like a raccoon. And yes, I often put mascara on before running !
  • A destination race trip or race bib. This would make a great weekend. Champagne and running in Reims ? Marseilles ? Half marathon in Barcelona ? Summer vacation next year in Maine for the Beach to Beacon ?

I am keeping my list short so that my husband won’t have any difficulty choosing what to get !

Any brand recommendations welcome !

The racecation is my vote! And I laughed about the mascara- I have that same issue. Welcome to the Link-Up!

Gloves and a hat are essential for winter running and a new pair of gloves are definitely on my list!

I like the idea of a destination trip or race bib! I’m going to Big Sur in April and I’m going to Sarastota in March–I guess I shouldn’t expect anything else under the tree!

Big sur would be wonderful. I haven’t been to CA in 30 years.

I hope you get everything on your list! I’m hoping for an entry and travel expenses to the London Marathon. One can dream…big. Haha! Thanks so much for linking up!

Ooohh, London would be great. Difficult to get it, I think it is lottery based.

Good winter gloves are a must! Love the idea of a race destination gift. Have a nice Thanksgiving

      I think I found a weekend in January for a small race-cation …..

Personally I find compression socks too tight around my feet to run in — I prefer calf sleeves and socks after — but it’s really a personal choice.

I like Zensah, Pro Compression, and Moji (so far!).

I read you need to be careful with calf sleeves, that they do not put too much pressure on your Achilles tendon. Yours are not too tight ?

  7. Darlene November 24, 2015 at 3:14 pm Reply

I like procompression for socks or sleeves. Lot’s of colors to choose.

I like your gift ideas esp the race one.

I will check out pro compression but not sure I can get it here. Will have to wait until my next US trip.

A racecation would be awesome! There is some great winter running gear at athletic stores or online at National Running Center – I got some really great gloves for cheap!

A racecation is always nice somewhere warm during the winter to get away from the cold. I will be looking forward to the WDW marathon in January.

Oooh, that would be nice. The first Disney race here in France is in Sept. 2016 and I have a wedding that weekend. It is for my niece so family takes priority over running. But I had to think about it ! LOL

I have a hard time shelling out the big bucks for “running” hats. I have a cheap ear warmer and a knit hat I got from our local farm supply store, but would really love a nice, proper running hat. Maybe one with a slit for my pony tail. 🙂

Another vote for ProCompression – love them!

Looks like the running hat idea has a lot of takers !

Haha love that you want mascara for your runs!

This year I’m giving my running friends my book! “Confessions of an Unlikely Runner (A Guide to Racing and Obstacle Courses for the Averagely Fit and Halfway Dedicated)”

It’s available in print and for Kindle on amazon.com 🙂

Wow, exciting to have written a book. I will check it out.

I just ordered my husband a running beanie from Old Navy. I like some of their active wear and it was reasonably priced, so hopefully it’s nice.

I love PROCompression and Feetures compression socks because they are comfortable and compressive and a thinner material than a lot of the products out there.

I need to get on mine so that hubby and friends have enough time to get me what I really want. I am kind of lucky because my bday in new year’s and so what I don’t get for xmas, i transfer t other bday list 🙂

    • Karen - Fit in France November 26, 2015 at 9:20 am Reply

My bday is in January so I do that too !

I have seen a few under armour hats and gloves I really like, but that steep $ kept me from doing it! I sweat and wash them after each run, it makes me want to keep my running gear for other use lol I love compression socks, pro compression has codes hey put out fairly often if you follow them in IG 🙂
Hope Santa is good to you!

I really think that gear designed specifically for running makes a difference! I have Champion running gloves that have a special little fingertip that works on a phone screen so you don’t have to take them off. Love them!
