The weekend didn’t go as planned

Hello Monday ! How was your weekend ? I am linking up with Tara at Running n Reading for the weekend update. I hope your weekend was much better than mine.

Saturday started off great. I woke up at 5:30 a.m., impossible to fall back asleep. So I got up, and by 10 a.m. I had :

  • Finished my Virtual Coffee Date post (these are always so much fun)
  • Gone running
  • Gone to the farmer’s market
  • Gone to the super market
  • Visited with a friend

The advantage of getting up early, few people out :

As I need new running sneakers, and someone had told me about this store not far from where I live, I decided to go and “just look”. Not only did I get sneakers (new Brooks GTS, I LOVE the color), but got a belt and handheld water bottle too (with a “soft” bottle).

The people were super friendly and I discovered that they do group runs a couple times a month. On these evenings they have sponsors come, you can try the products and the evening finishes with a drink. It is open to everyone… interesting !

I did some cooking, went shopping with my girls, then laid my racing clothes out in anticipation for Sunday. I had a race scheduled fro 10 a.m. and was going to help at the school fair Sunday afternoon.

Well,…I didn’t get race, or go to the school fair. I woke up Sunday deathly ill, probably something I ate. I am never sick, but I spent 20 out of 24 hours in bed.

So Sunday looked like this :

My cat slept with me the whole day. I was so disappointed because the weather was a perfect 10, but my race just wasn’t going to happen.

I feel better today. Hope your weekend turned out better than mine ! Did you get to race ? Do you have a handheld water bottle ? Do you like it ?

Karen, I’m so sorry to hear that you were feeling poorly yesterday; I hope you are recovering well! I love your new gear and what a treat to find this shop and hear about their group runs! Do you think you’ll try to participate, sometime? I have a couple of handheld water bottles (different sizes) and I love them; definitely come in handy during the summer months. Thanks so much for linking up today; hope your Monday is going well.

Oh No! I’m so sorry! It still haunts my BRF that the same thing happened before her first marathon. She trained and ran it again the following year, but I can completely understand your pain 🙁 How sweet of your cat to keep you company all day. I hope you are feeling well enough to take those beautiful Brooks for a test run this week! I’m a Brooks girls too – the colors are always spot on!!

OMG, that is one of the things that went through my mind Sunday. What happened if I woke up marathon day (which is next year for me) and was sick like this ? would I have forced myself to race after training so hard ? Which Brooks model do you like ? I switched from Asics a couple years ago and have been quite pleased.

At least you had the adorable kitty to keep you company on your sick bed. Sorry to hear that! We also went to the farmer’s market, after returning from my one mile race on Saturday. Hope you’re feeling better!!

Ughhh! I’m so sorry you missed a race because you were sick. What makes it worse is that you felt better the next day. Bad timing. But I do love your new sneakers and that you discovered a great running store. That’s a plus!

Those things happen. In hindsight, I am very glad I stayed in bed and didn’t go because I had considered it….
