The (temporary) empty nest experience

One of our children left on a school trip Sunday morning, for 6 days. It was odd to be alone with only one child. The whole dynamic of the home changed.. and then our second child went away on a school trip for 3 days. So my husband and I are currently, although temporarily, empty nesters.

I am so not ready for this. Not having kids at home is sad, the house is too quiet. I miss the bickering, the laughter and the teenage music.

It does mean however that my husband and I are on a mini vacation. We went out to dinner  last night, and ate at L’Entree des Artistes. It was excellent and I love the fact that even after 20 years in Paris I still discover fantastic restaurants.

We then went to the theater to see Les Franglaises, which literally translates into Frenglish. It is a group of singers / musicians / comedians who literally translate the words of English songs into French. It is hilarious, but you need to speak French to appreciate it. Sorry for my English readers !

One thing about living in Paris is that you often see famous people. There was an actor at the show, the women here with the glasses on her way to her seat. I get all dorky when I see famous people !

My girls both come back tomorrow and will stay with my mother in law while my husband and I continue our empty nester experience and go away for a weekend with friends. I have brought all of my running gear, we are supposed to have great weather.

So I am signing off from blogging for a few days ! Have a great weekend.

Have you ever seen a celebrity ? Do you easily recognize them ? Do you like the theater ?

Yay for date nights and weekends away! Must be such a mix of emotions having an empty nest after so much time spent looking after your children for years! Enjoy your weekend away! We went to Portland (Maine) for the first time two weeks ago and it was so nice to get away for even a short time. Looking forward to my first day off from work since February (Memorial Day weekend coming up).

    Hello Karen,
Isn’it Sophie Marceau, the actress ? And behind her it seems to be Tomer Sisley… 🙂 That’s right that in Paris you can meet people in various places even at the restaurant next to you… 😉
