Thankful for March

Its the last of day March and I wanted to take a few minutes to reflect back on the positive aspects of the month. Indeed, here in France things are depressing… between the economy (which is crappy), the government (which doesn’t really know what its doing) and unemployment (which is on the rise), I figured a little bit of positivity to think about the good things in life would be motivating. So here are the things I was grateful for this past month :

Friends & family :  we celebrated my husband’s birthday with a surprise party. It was a last minute decision but everyone showed up and we had a great time. Life can get really busy, work can get in the way and sometimes I think we need to make the time to see those we really care about. It had been months since we had seen several of our friends.

Travel : I am lucky to be able to travel with my company. I got to go to both Istanbul and Budapest this month, two cities that were new to me. Travelling always pushes me out of my comfort zone. The challenge of finding a taxi, trying a food I had never eaten before, using different money…. its always a bit scary but so worth it. I also discovered some really great sites !

The spring like weather : My family and friends on the East coast in the US have had a really. long. winter. The snow, ice, cold temps… I grew up in Maine and know how it can be. Every time I talked to someone in the US, read a Facebook post, or skyped and saw the quantity of snow, I felt grateful for my 60 degree weather. In Paris we have had an unconditionally mild March and I got to eat outside, sit in the sun and take many more walks or runs than I usually would. My last run was this evening…. and it just smelled like spring.

Enjoying my girls : My teenagers are busy with school work, activities, competitions, friends, sports, school trips…. It can be hard finding time to really connect, or even sit down together. We are not a big TV family and have a hard time agreeing on what to watch, but managed to get in some girly movies and tv.

  • Pitch Perfect :

Being healthy : This is something I think I sometimes take for granted.  I run because I can, I fuel my body with good food (most of the time), I get a decent amount of sleep and my body pays me back by working well.

Overall a good month. April, here I come !

How was your month of March ? What are you thankful for ?

What a great month for you! So great about your husband’s birthday!
Travel to another country does have a way of pushing you outside your comfort zone, but it’s always so worth it. The rewards are endless, and the memories last forever. 🙂

Lucky you getting to travel! I would be nervous too, but sometimes that is the only way of getting out of my comfort zone. Your daughters are beautiful!!!
