Ten things about my week

In short, I didn’t travel this week. It was so great to be home and get caught up on things I have been putting on the back burner, spend time with family and be domestic.

Here are 10 random things about the past 7 days :

Family. Spent time with my husband and daughter on our shopping missing. We have some weddings coming up.

Theater. My youngest daughter has been preparing a play for the whole school year. The show was Thursday and Friday night. The whole troop did an amazing job, even if the piece chosen was a bit odd (she is standing in the middle).

Rest. Monday was a holiday. A four day work week is always great.

Balcony. I finally went and bought geraniums for my balcony. It doesn’t get that cold here and they often make it through the winter, but I had several casualties this year, so needed to replace them. It is now nice enough to eat on the balcony in the evenings. Finally.

Cat. More time on the balcony means we also need to keep an eye on our cat. He would love to go see the neighbors ! And BTW, that is fat you see handing off his tummy, so we have put him on a diet.

Mileage. I ran (with some run/walking thrown in) 41K over the past week. Good runs, crappy runs, speed work and hill repeats… it was all there.

Variety. Besides running I did yoga, weights, ab work including planking.

Stretching. I think the hill repeats & yoga (downward dog) on Tuesday aggravated my lower calves / achilles… they were tight all week. Which probably explains crappy runs.

Shoes. We have several weddings this year, including one this coming weekend. A girl can never have too many dresses or new shoes !

War zone. I did a ton of cooking and food prep on Saturday.

And that’s a wrap !

I am linking up with Holly and Tricia at Hoho runs and Misssippipiddlin for their Weekly Wrap.

Tell me one random thing about your week !

I’m so with you on the dresses & shoes — just please explain that to my husband. 🙂

Giz gains weight in the winter, and loses it in the summer — just like me! Lola was the opposite; she actually got alarmingly skinny but after a deworming, she put on some weight again. I was getting worried.

I have to be careful with hill repeats.I know they’re super awesome, but the tend to aggravate my IT.

I think it was the hill repeats which did a number on my lower calf… but I usually don’t have issues so I was surprised.
Our cat is so fat. We just feed him too much, it has nothing to do with the seasons 🙂

I hear you on the tight Achilles–I need to do a better job of stretching it all out.

Curious..do you cook mostly French dishes, or do you make American things too? Is it hard to find all the ingredients you need?

Good question ! When I think of US meals, I think sandwiches, casseroles, crock pot meals. I don’t make any of that. In France things can be pretty elaborate. I am pretty basic : protein + veggie + rice or pasta. No sauces, nothing fancy. I don’t have the patience ! So to answer your question, neither French nor American. For what I need I find things here. There are some spices from US recipes that I have a hard time finding, but besides that I can get everything I need here.

When I am motivated, I go all out ! Better to make and mess and clean it up once then spend the weekend cooking & cleaning…

I am that girl who doesn’t really like shoe shopping. I think I know I’m being set up for betrayal. They look so cute but I know they will hurt me in the end. 😉

I am very picky about shoes in general, but if I find it and it fits, I buy it.

Ah, you just reminded me I need to be better about food prep! I did make 2 lbs of chicken in the crock pot yesterday for meals for this week. Those shoes are just adorable!

I love the kitty on the balcony. His expression seems to be “Please don’t make me go inside!” The path where you ran looks beautiful.

Cute shoes for the wedding! Sounds like a good week of running/walking and way to get some variety in there. I really need to work on that.

I am happy with the variety but I pushed it too much on the speed workout and hill repeats….I either pulled a muscle or aggravated a tendon. gggrrr

Great week for you Karen, I love the 10 things about my week idea too. I totally agree a girl can not have too many shoes or dresses.
I wish I did more food prep for the upcoming week. I’m always struggling to eat healthy because of it.

For food prep, I just buy a ton of fresh produce on Saturday and find time to prep it over the weekend. If its in the house, I’ll eat it because I hate to throw out food.

My random fact from (last) week…the saddle sores from biking are gone! Random fact for this week….my daughter is in Paris! She sent me a pic of the Eiffel Tower, Mona Lisa, Venus statue, and Louve this morning. Be on the lookout for her 😉 (I wish I was there, too…and I’d try to find you)

Hope your daughter is having a great time. It poured Sunday & today, the rest of the week should be decent. If you do come, let me know!
Glad your saddle sores are gone.

I know you enjoyed your week at home. Your geraniums are lovely and what a nice view you have to enjoy from your balcony. I love to shop for shoes too but mainly buy flip-flops and sandals. It’s rare for me to get dressed up. Random fact: I did put on a sundress for my son’s graduation…with black sandals. I hope your lower calf/achilles area feels better very soon. Thanks for linking with us Karen!

Your cat is adorable! Mine have bellies like that as well, it is hard because they don’t get much exercise.
hopefully you will feel some relief soon from the tight calves.
Every week should be a four day work week in my book lol whoever decided to take up five days working is not on my popular list!

I agree about 3 day work weeks…. they are so great. But, I would be seriously bored if I worked less than that. I need constant stimulation.
