Summer has finally arrived

I am writing this while sitting on my balcony, in shorts and barefoot, surrounded by bright pink geraniums, a great summer breeze, hot temps and blue sky. Finally. The whole week was like this and I got to wear white skirts, strappy sandals, sunglasses. I am soaking up every minute.

This week was another jam packed week, just how I like them.

Monday kicked off week 2 of marathon training. So I was up and out very early to get my run in. I worked from home that day and was craving veggies. I have been trying to cut back a bit on meat also, so I roasted some peppers and some chick peas, covered in a bit of olive oil, cumin and curry.

Tuesday was uneventful besides the fact I woke up with a sore throat. Too much travel ? Over tired ? Not sure, but I am never sick, so it is a sign that I need to slow down. But slow down is not in my vocabulary. Wednesday I got up early and ran again. I am trying to build variety and speed into my Galloway plan, so I did a Fartlek workout . Once home, I planked a bit and was photobombed by my curious cat. He just wants attention.

Wednesday evening my husband had reserved a restaurant for the 2 of us. When I arrived I was surprised to see my daughters :

… and he surprised me with a gorgeous Tiffany ring for our 20th wedding anniversary. It was very emotional and all four of us cried when he gave me the ring. It was a complete surprise.

On Thursday, I was off again…. to Germany. And it so happened that Germany was playing France in the semi finals of the European Soccer tournament. So I had to route for Germany….

… luckily France ended up winning. Friday was more work and travel back to France. The travel, sitting, restaurants, change of diet… meant come Friday I was tired, lethargic (and my sore throat had turned into a full blown head cold). I was so ready to exercise Saturday morning, for my last run on week 2’s training plan. It called for 8 km but I so needed to run after the week I had had, that I ran for 12 km, including hill repeats at the end. It was absolutely gorgeous out and I even got in some planking. #plankingandsmilingwithsunglasses

I then had to rush home and get ready because we had a wedding that afternoon and it was a two hour drive.

I was wiped at the end of the evening. We stayed over, and drove back to Paris this morning. So Sunday is pretty low key. Reading, relaxing, napping, blogging (with some laundry thrown in)….before tonight’s final game of the #Euro2016 soccer tournament (France versus Portugal).

I apologize if I haven’t been a very good blogger recently, not reading or commenting as much as I would like but things are going to calm down a bit now, so I will be back to a more normal routine.

And that’s a wrap !

I am linking up with Holly and Tricia at Hoho runs and Misssippipiddlin for their Weekly Wrap.

Happy anniversary! Sorry to hear you were a bit under the weather.

What is the climate usually like in France? Does it usually start to get warm/hot before July?

    • Karen - Fit in France July 11, 2016 at 8:50 pm Reply

      Thank you.
Its usually warm starting in May ! So things are 2 months late. It is in the high 70s or low 80s, but no humidity. We had gray skies for 2 months. Boo.

I would love to be in your carry on suitcase for one of your trips. Just magical. I think that you should teach your cat to help you with your planks by getting on your back and adding weight 😀

What a lovely anniversary surprise! Congrats on 20 years. Your geraniums are so pretty. I’m glad your summer weather has finally arrived. I haven’t had as much time for blogging recently either. I think the summer months are more difficult. Your cat doesn’t even look real in that picture. Thanks for linking, Karen!

    • Karen - Fit in France July 12, 2016 at 7:30 am Reply

My geraniums always look great because every time I water them I add a tiny bit of fertilizer.
Summer arrived, now just hoping it stays….
