School is out. The days are long and bright. Flowers are blooming. Work is slower. Vacation is in the air.
I LOVE this time of the year.
And at the same time, this week marked Week 1 of NYC Marathon training, my second marathon of the year. That in itself doesn’t make the summer as typical as it usually is.
So here are my fitness goals, to stay focused through the next two months with so many temptations thrown my way :
1.Be faithful to my training plan, with 3 or 4 days of running per week. Week 1 has been successful.
2. Keep planking and doing pushups, at least 4 days a week. This challenge with started back in May and there has been some healthy competition and mutual motivation surrounding it. I want to keep it up.
3. Add in one day of cross training / weight lifting / swimming. Because this woman needs more than just running in her life.
4. Limit the ice cream and rosé wine, which definitely represent summer. This will probably be the hardest thing on my list to do!
5. Add some speed and hill work. I have had some downtime so I need to get my mileage up, then start adding in speed. This is the one thing that I didn’t focus a lot on during my first marathon, which I want more focus on this time around.
Its going to be a great summer ! NYC I’m coming for you !
