Seen on my run

I am linking up with Marcia at Marcia’s Healthy Slice, Erika at MCM Mama runs and Patty at My no guilt life for Tuesdays on the run where today’s topic is interesting stuff you find along the roadside.

I haven’t found too many whacky things on my runs, maybe I don’t pay attention much but here are a few that come to mind :

Cows and fireman. These are my favorite roadside ”finds” when I run. Cows in the countryside. Firemen in the city.

A gym bag. Many people drive to the park/woods where I run, and once I found a gym bag just lying there on the ground. Someone had left it after they drove away. I felt really badly for that person all day long. Think of that moment when they realize that they left their bag on the side of the road 8 hours ago ! You just know that even if you went back, it wouldn’t be there….

Trash. Unfortunately this happens a lot on Sunday mornings, after people picnicked or partied in the park Saturday night. Seriously people, can’t you put the trash IN the trash can instead of NEXT TO IT ? !

Cats in Istanbul. There are so many stray cats in Istanbul, people feed them and take care of them. They were all over the place.

…and sadly I have seen 2 dead cats in Paris, where I usually run. I think they had been hit by cars but looked so peaceful just lying there. And I ran by them several times. It made me sad every time I ran by.

Pray for Paris. I came across this child’s chalk drawing a few days after the terrorist attacks.

I have never found any money. No dog has ever chased me. And I haven’t come across anything that I would pick up and bring home. Well, except the firemen.

Tell me about one of your finds !

I think I’d be stopping to stroke those cats all the time if I ran there!

I mainly see cows, sheep and horses. I once saw a hare which was exciting (and a lot faster than me).

I often stop to look at the animals and once all the cows started running towards me. Not sure if I spooked them, but it scared me. Luckily there was a fence !

That is sad about the cats. I once got out of my car to save a cat that got hit by a car (I didn’t hit it), it was twitching so I thought it was still alive but when I looked closer, there were just too many of his insides out on the road. I think I went home and cried for a few hours.

Don’t know if I would know what an opossum looked like if I came across one . LOL

Montenegro is another place teeming with feral cats. Makes me wanna take care of all of them but I guess somebody does. A farm near here used to have llamas. They were cool to visit but the people have since moved. Thanks for linking up!

You’ve got a lot of sights to see out there. I’d want to take a cat or two home, and I’m not even a cat person lol.

Drives me nuts. Really ? NEXT to the can and not IN it ? Laziness at its best.

Aw, bless! What wonderful pictures! I miss living where there was livestock seen on my runs.

    I don’t miss the smells.<3

It crushes me when I see a dead animal. One morning, a few summers ago I was running and saw a cat get hit…the car stopped and the neighbor came out, I just had to turn around and go the other way. I wouldn’t run that direction for a few days – it gave me chills.
Cows always make me smile lol I am not sure why, they just look so laid back.
    I have found a few quarters 😉

The thing that kills me is that a dead cat looks really peaceful. I even thought one was sleeping once. Until I got closer. Not.

Aw, the deceased cats would have made me VERY sad! I hate seeing trash while I run, sometimes that happens in my neighborhood but it’s never too excessive. I was once chased by a dog while running and that was SO scary…it wasn’t even a big dog!

Yes, the poor kitties, they looked so peaceful, like they were sleeping. 🙁

I’ve definitely never brought anything home. Thankfully I’ve never been chased by a dog, either.

I remember a lot of stray cats near Notre Dame? Or at least several.

I once had a deer run with me on a path for a little bit, which was very surprising and kind of cool (a doe, not a buck).

No more stray cats in Paris. Maybe in the past but not any more. Thank God !

I’ve seen all kinds of things on the run. I see gross things, like used condoms. Lots of liquor bottles and beer cans. I found $20 once. Most recently I came upon a Batman action figure. I brought him home too.

      I don’t see gross things here… but maybe I just don’t pay attention ?!

LOL at never seeing anything that would pick you up and bring you home except the firemen. I know exactly what you are talking about with all the stray cats in Istanbul. It was the same way in Tel Aviv, too! I am heartbroken seeing dead animals. =( It does get frustrating seeing garbage lying on the ground next to the garbage bin instead of in it. How awful for the person who left their gym bag on the ground! The best thing I ever saw on the run was a $20 bill!

    • Karen - Fit in France June 16, 2016 at 9:32 pm Reply

      I found 20 dollars once, in a bar ! But never running…..
