Runfessions : Vanity

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am linking up with Marcia at Marcia’s Healthy Slice for November’s Runfessions.

When it comes to running and fitness in general, there are some things I am really vain about, and some things I could care less about.

Yes, I admit it !

I like looking and feeling feminine when I run. Feeling feminine makes me feel good about myself, confident and sexy. So this means :

Wearing fitted tshirts. I will never buy a tshirt unless it is fitted.

I hate that the race shirts are often cut for men. Boo. I will not be caught dead wearing that, unless I absolutely have to.Here is a men’s cut shirt I was given, where I put it on for about 2 minutes to take the picture (for a competition there was in our running group). It is as strait as a box and not flattering at all !

Wearing pink/ bright colors. Again it makes me feel girly. Pink shoes. Pink tops.

Having my picture taken without glasses. As much as I don’t mind wearing glasses, I prefer myself without glasses in my photos. I have a really thin face and my glasses always look too big in pictures. You will always see me put my glasses on my head for my pictures.

Putting on make up for my race / run. For a race I will wear mascara and small stud earrings. Its that feminine thing. I am a mascara addict (hint hint if you are looking for ideas for a Christmas gift.)

And some things I care less about.

My feet.  I am no longer vain about my feet. I used to love painting my nails all year long but now that I am doing so much more running, they are cut very very short, and rarely painted. Sorry feet ! They do get creamed and massaged every night in compensation for not looking so pretty.

My hair. As I run early in the morning, my hair doesn’t have to look good. I will never see anyone I know, AND because I put my glasses on my head if I take a picture, I figure that will hide the bed head.

Tell me your runfession ! Do you do any of these ?

I love Estee Lauder mascara! And foundation. I ignore my feet in cold weather but then polish them up when the flip flops come out. You always looks pretty in your photos, btw. I sleep in the unflattering race Tshirts and prefer to run in tank tops.

WoW, I am SO with you on everything you mentioned, except I do keep my toenails painted 😉 Absolutely, YES to the boo on men’s shirts…I hate square-cut pieces of clothing! I am usually in bright colors, and I also take a quick minute to smear on a bit of eye-liner and earrings before I leave my house. Great to meet someone who has the same “ideals” as myself 😉

I am very vain too. Read my Runfession which will be posted tomorrow.

I always plan my running outfits.

I do the same with my sunglasses on bad hair days and I wear contacts. If I am wearing glasses, you won’t ever see them in a photo.

On training runs I could care less, but for races, it is nice to have my “favorite” running clothes to wear- you know the most comfortable and the ones that look the best. Instead of doing a sloppy pony tail I will make sure it is brushed and nicely pulled back. You are right, it gives us confidence! No make up or earrings for me, but if it made me feel better, I would do it! Glad you do your thang! I am glad a lot of races do women’s cut shirts right now because I just have no desire to wear a big boxy t-shirt!

I really like wearing bright clothing when I run but I need to get more stuff! I don’t care much about how my feet look either, but I do get pedicures when I can!

Yes, you can never have too much stuff!

Ha! I will not run a race if they don’t offer a tee for women.

I am vain about my feet. I pedicure once a month–it’s therapeutic and I love my toes being so polished.

I prefer a manucure, LOVE dark color on my nails.

I get complimented on my running clothes all the time — I always say if you can’t fun well, at least you can look like you do!

I have never painted my toenails or had a pedicure. Some things I’m high maintenance about; some things I’m not. And running absolutely destroys my hair!

I wear contacts, but if I do have my glasses on, they come off for a picture, for sure.

My hair is so much easier to take care of since I cut it !

I love pink 🙂 I like fitted too, I look very bulky in those unisex shirts…
It does help to feel good when you run! I always try to pick something I like for a race, but on training runs I don’t fuss as much, usually because they are in t he dark lol

Sometimes I can be really picky and match my socks to my outfit. But it all depends on if I have clean socks that go with what I am wearing !
