Runfessions : December

I am linking up with Marcia at Marcia’s Healthy Slice for the last Runfessions of 2016. It is (already!) that time of the month to get everything off your chest. Here goes……

Runfessions-300x294

Running ? What running ?

I runfess… December was my lowest mileage month in 2016. I didn’t keep track, hardly wore my watch, and haven’t even written in my training journal for the past 3 weeks !  I estimate it to be around 50 miles but I might be OVER estimating that by a lot.

I runfess… last year at this time I was training for the Paris marathon. I am NOT missing training in the middle of winter and those zero dark thirty runs. It has been cold here !

I runfess that although I have signed up for 2 races in February, I am not (yet?) thinking of ”training” for them. I am picturing them as fun ways to kick off the season.

I runfess that I am fully enjoying my 6 week online bootcamp program with Amanda Tress. HIIT workouts, lifting weights, running, biking…. after training for 2 marathons in 2016 I was craving variety AND something I can do at home (hello! no need to go out at zero dark thirty).

I runfess that I am very happy with what I have accomplished this year. 2016 was good to me, but I feel a little lost without a big 2017 objective. I am a goal oriented person and without one, I feel like I am floating.

Let’s laugh a little ! Pictures that did not make it to IG.

I runfess that I take lots of photos and fix my hair before choosing one to put on social media. My daughter captured the process I went through one morning this week :

I runfess that I was too embarrassed to take a photo in the weight room this week, because it was 100% men. The lighting and background in the locker room is awful though, so this one didn’t get posted to IG. Ugh.

And finally, my husband made fun of this one, as it looks like I am doing something other than squatting !

How many photos do you take before posting one on IG ?

Do you spend time fixing your hair ?

What do you want to runfess this month ?

Haha! I had one of those squatting pics and everyone commented on it too! LOL!

You had a fantastic year and I’ve loved getting to know you through your blog. I’m going to miss reading about you and your life in France.

    Happy New Year!

Thanks Wendy, I am going to take a short break, not sure how long. I will still read and comment on blogs, I am not going anywhere. 🙂

My hair does its own thing. Which most of the time is very unflattering (especially during or after a run. Can we say frizz city? But thanks for sharing — it made me smile!

Goals are good. They don’t always have to be big though! And I love working out at home. I know if I were in a group I might work out harder, but it’s just easier to squeeze in a little here, a little there at home.

Especially when I wake up too early . ..

I am LOVING working out at home at the moment. Maybe I am a bit lazy but I figure it is better than no workout at all.

I am lazy. I don’t work out and I need a companion to get me to a gym.

My hair does its own thing – I never know what it will look like.

I don’t post most of the pics I take LOL.

Ha ha ha….I ALWAYS have to do a quick poof of the hair (and sometimes check the lipstick) before the pics start happening LOL I keep saying I need to do an “out take” blog post just to show how “real” I really am (as if the world doesn’t know that!). A year ago, I did the 6-hour ultra in July, so I had no big fall races (a couple of half marathons, but nothing grandiose). It seemed like EVERYONE else was doing fall marathons…and I really felt out of it. But, it was a nice change of routine to not have to be training for anything.

I run fess that running is just not fun any more 🙁

I usually take at least 3 pic before posting..lol.

That online boot camp sounds fun, I need to look into that.

I too need a push or event to keep me on track. Glad I signed up for a tri at the end of April.

I went through phases of running bore out and burn out. It is important just to keep active and find something you love to do.

You have had an amazing 2016 Karen! I love all of the funny pictures you shared. I usually take several pictures so I can have several to pick from! I love that your daughter captured the process. Too funny. I also love your locker room pic. I always want to take pictures at the gym, but it’s so hard to do it!!

I runfess that getting IG-worthy pics takes more time than I am willing to commit sometimes. Ugh. Since I wear a ponytail the hair fixing is minimal but still. You’ve had an epic year and I can’t wait to see what 2017 brings!
