I love summer and love to have a “summer routine”. Life is slower, there are fewer people in the city, fewer activities and obligations.
But this also means that my exercise and eating habits get out of whack. While on vacation in July I exercised quite a bit and loved it : vacation week 1 food & fitness recap and vacation week 2 food & fitness recap.
August was a bit different because I was back to work, had family coming and going and had some major weekend projects.
Last weekend I did manage to get in two big exercise sessions. I had not exercised since the Sunday before, and I was almost going through withdrawal.
A week ago Sunday my mom and I walked and did some planking and push ups.
This past Saturday, I got in 10 km. It was nice outside, my foot was not hurting, so I kept on running. On Sunday, I wanted to go to the gym to lift weights. I started off for a 3 km jog and it was so nice, I kept going and never made it to the gym. I did another 8 km with intervals and did push ups and tricep drops on park benches. I love being outside.
As far as food goes, with all the family I had around we ate lots of cheese, drank wine, had goose liver pate, dessert…. my body was craving veggies this past weekend.
School started today in France, so in a few days I can say that I will be officially back into my routine.
I had such a great month with family and that took priority over the rest. I won’t see my sister in law for a year, my mom for at least 6 months, and spending time with them was more important than a trip to the gym.
