Rainy May Weekend

Hello readers, how was your weekend ? We had a 3 day weekend here in France due to French Labor Day being May 1st. A rainy three day weekend… yuck. We were supposed to go away but decided to stay home. I can not complain though, we had 3 weeks of fantastic weather in April.

Friday, after a run to the bakery for the family (because I was too busy to get groceries the day before and the supermarket is closed on Labor Day)…

….I spent quite a bit of time working on my blog trying new plug ins and playing with Jetpack options. I am always a bit reluctant to make changes, worried it will screw everything up, but so far so good. I added Comment Reply notification, Click to Tweet (Coco wrote a great post here about plug ins to add) and as people have been asking if they can receive a notification each time I post I figured out how to include that option too ! Thanks to fellow bloggers for the advice.

I then spent some time planning our summer vacation. Looking forward to this :

My mother in law came over and she offered these flowers to us, which is a tradition in France on May 1st. They smell wonderful.

On Saturday I went for a long run, between the rain showers. Wasn’t necessarily planning to, but it just felt good, so I kept on going.

With my mother in law we had a great lunch and she also bought dessert :

On Saturday afternoon I went to a new running shop. I wanted to  look at things like compression socks / sleeves, fueling… and just  drool over  look at running clothes and equipment. I didn’t buy anything. Yet.

Saturday evening I went to the movies with my daughter and a friend to see Connasse Princesse des Coeurs, a French film. It was hilarious. Its about a French woman who decides she doesn’t want to work, and wants to marry Prince Harry. The entire film was filmed with a hidden camera in Paris and London. I hadn’t laughed that hard in a very long time. I had one of those deep belly laughs that I couldn’t stop (you know, the ones that hurt because you are laughing so hard) for the scene with the corgi.

(photo source Wallcoo) Here is the Trailer, not sure if it will one day come to the US…

On Sunday, I went to the pool, then spent the rest of the day cooking, reading, watching a movie, blogging, cleaning. It turned really nice at the end of the day and we got to eat dinner out side on our balcony. Yummy salad and fruit :

Sounds like you had a great weekend. I actually spent a good amount of time on Saturday trying to get CommentLuv installed on my Blog and can’t quite figure out if I did it right. It is there, then it vanishes. oh, well. I suppose there’s a reason I’m not a computer science person. Love those May Day flowers! Beautiful!

I am not much of a computer person either, so that is why I only go with any plug in someone has recommended.

The croissant and cupcakes look wonderful! (have you tried the cupcake bakery run by DCRainmaker’s wife? they are Americans in Paris… )

Lily of the Valley – makes me think of my mom’s mom, those flowers grew wild next to her house.

The movie sounds like a hoot – perhaps it’ll come to the US on DVD with subtitles, fun for my to practice my rusty high school French.

    What a lovely weekend!

I have not tried the cupcake bakery yet but several people have told me about it…. very random people I have met. Too funny ! I will check it out.

Looks like a great weekend. That movie sounds great! Hopefully it will come to the US (with subtitles, of course…)

Thanks for the tips on the blog…I’m looking to do a little upgrade, not too much of a change, just a few things to make it more user friendly….

I got tips from Coco and Courtney (eatprayrun).Jetpack actually has a lot of options that would have made my life easier, had I paid attention a bit more closely.

Great weekend! Thanks for sharing the photo of your croissant, which is the closest I’ll get to an authentic croissant until I return to France. 🙂 And those Lilies of the Valley are gorgeous!

I’m always stressed when I mess around with my blog too. I always feel like I’m going to mess everything up!
