Paris & friends

Today I am feeling grateful. Last week I had  a friend and her family visiting from the US, one of my BFF from high school. They hadn’t been to France for many years, so after a few days in Normandy, they spent the last part of their trip in Paris.

I took some time off to spend with them and we had a wonderful day sightseeing in the city, and catching up. Our husband’s get along, our kids get along, and I have introduced them to friends in France with whom they also hit it off.

The gods were with us this week ! The weather was PERFECT, there were not too many people, I discovered a wonderful Paris museum… couldn’t be feeling more thankful or happy this Sunday morning.

So here is looking at the past few days.

Being silly while having a drink and catching up :

Visiting Montmartre. I hadn’t been for ages and I forget how lovely and quintessential Paris it really is. 2015-04-22 15.01.40 2015-04-22 15.14.20 2015-04-22 15.15.02 2015-04-22 15.54.05

We visited the Montmartre Museum which is a small museum, tucked away behind Sacre Coeur, portraying the history of this area, the artists, the cabarets. I had never been and found it to be one of the nicest, small museums I have been to. There is an internal garden, and great views over the vineyards in Paris. I definitely recommend it.

Of course we had to sit in a cafe (sitting in a cafe, people watching, NEVER gets old, no matter how long you live here) :

And we all took a boat ride down the Seine. We took the Bateaux Mouches, leaving at 9 p.m. It was great because the sun was setting and we got to see everything lit up, but also the sun going doing behind Notre Dame. It was spectacular.

And finally, the guys had to get away from all the girls and teenagers for a day to themselves.

The rest of the weekend was spent doing laundry, housework and getting in some exercise. I ran 12,5 km on Saturday and swam laps for 45 minutes on Sunday. I also went and got the Paula Radcliffe running book. I spent a good part of the weekend reading  and thinking about the marathon I signed up for.

Sounds like a great weekend – glad you were able to see your friend. I may have missed an earlier post, are you training for a marathon? (I see your JG book).
