Oldies but goodies

I am linking up with Marcia at Marcia’s Healthy Slice, Erika at MCM Mama runs and Patty at My no guilt life for Tuesdays on the run where today’s topic is gear we would buy all over again.

tuesdays

I actually do not have too much old stuff because I have invested in good, quality gear over the years, and clothes in, clothes out is my motto…. but here are a few things that have been around for a while.

My oldest, most dearest running friend is my Nike+ watch. My husband bought this for me as a Mother’s Day present many years ago and even if it has a lot fewer bells and whistles than the more recent models, it works just fine for me. Mileage, pace… just what I need. Its only downfall is that I can not share my runs on Instagram and for the life of me I can not figure out why. Maybe because its old ?

My iPod ! I started running with music, and ran with music for years. I got this great iPod for my birthday a couple years ago. It worked great until it went through the spin cycle. #runnerproblems

So I dug out my daughter’s iPod, the small one that clips. I LOVE it and used it for a couple years. For some reason I have misplaced it and haven’t found it for about a week. I had it at the gym about a week ago, and my plank picture proves it but since…. NO IDEA what I did with it.

And I even have a small pouch where I put all my cords, watch, Fitbit AND iPod. Or so I thought. So, while it was old, I might need something new.

(Note : following the comment posted by Marcia, I dug out my iPod that went through the wash… and it works. Thank you Marcia !)

My pink underarmor top. I have worn it for years, I think it was one of my first real running purchases. It doesn’t have thumbholes, and it is a bit thin, but still one of my favorites, even despite the slight odor that won’t seem to wash out.

And I just had to mention one of my newest purchases… I bought a Odlo jacket that I find extremely clever. There is a slit for your watch, so you don’t have to wear the watch on top of the jacket. Isn’t that neat ?

What is your favorite oldie ?

Ooooh a watch slit s genius! I struggle with this all winter. I drowed an iPod in a rainy race and another went thru the wash. I replaced both but after letting them sit for a very long time, they recovered!!! Amazing! Thanks for linking up!

The only thing I am missing with my watch is being able to program it with my run /walk method, I would like it to beep or buzz… but it does not have that option.

I’m always having to take my watch off & put it on my jacket — such a pain — that watch slit is really cool!

I still have my same ipod nano and it has served me well! No need to upgrade for this gal! -M

Loved the clip… don’t think they sell them anymore. I hated wearing an arm band. Too tight and I would sweat.

I need a new jacket like I need a hole in my head, but i love that split wrist for your watch. Too cool!

I have never seen it anywhere else except on this brand, but it would be so easy to copy.

Love the slit in the jacket! I always wear my watch outside of my sleeve. That is genius!

Since we now wear watches with heart rate monitors, that watch has got to be against your skin and not on top of anything. Ingenious to put a split in the jacket. But they also put them in the tops! I’ve use an iPod Shuffle forever (the little clip one). I love it because it adds no weight or bulk. I hope you find yours.

Ah, haven’t yet tried wireless headphones. I don’t run with music much anymore so I don’t want to spend the money.
