New York, pre-marathon

Thank you thank you thank you for all your kind words, encouragement and messages for my marathon. It was a fantastic experience (even though I feel like I have been run over by a truck !). I am working on my race recap, but in the meantime, here are some pre-race pictures of my time in the city.

Friday afternoon we got to the hotel early so had time to go pick up my race bib and visit the expo a bit.

On Saturday, because I already had my bib, we had some time in the morning to visit ground zero. We want to go back and visit the museum.

In the afternoon, I had scheduled a bus tour of the marathon route, thinking it would be fun for my husband to see where I would be running. The bus takes you along the whole 26 miles. With traffic it took over 4 hours !

Apparently these porta potties (coming off the Queensboro bridge) rarely sport a line of people

We then had coffee with these lovely ladies (Darlene & Judy !). They had both run the 5K that morning and so of course we had to talk running, race experience and strategize about what I should wear for the marathon.

Saturday evening was spent with my brother & his wife’s family. His BIL was running the marathon (after running Chicago 3 weeks before !) and had given me lots of advice over the past few months. It was great to see them all again.

And that’s a wrap.

I  am linking up with Holly and Tricia at Hoho runs and Misssippipiddlin for their Weekly Wrap.

I apologize that I have not been able to answer everyone individually nor read and comment as faithfully as usual on your blogs. Things have been crazy as you can imagine. I

promise I will get caught up over the next couple weeks !

Even without marathon training, my life has been totally insane the last few months, and it does pain me I don’t have as much time to read/comment.

Thinking of you & your folks. Hoping this time in the city with Jean can still be fun. Y’all have great attitudes, I’ll give you that!

That is a LONG bus tour, but it was a great way to keep you off your feet. It is so tempting to walk around sightseeing the day before a race. I’m glad you got to chat with Darlene and Judy again. I can’t wait to read the details of your amazing race! I hope you are enjoying the rest of your vacation. Thanks for linking, Karen!
