My wintery week

It was a fantastic week here on this side of the Atlantic. Here are 10 random reasons why (in no particular order).

  1. The weather was fabulously wintery all week. Cold (low / mid thirties which is cold in France) but sunny with bright blue skies. We don’t get many days like that here. Gray is usually the Parisian color from November to March.20161129_125601
  2. Five workouts. I ran Monday & Tuesday, did a chest / back workout Wednesday, leg workout Thursday and arm / shoulder workout Saturday. I am incorporating some HIIT workouts also. As part of the workouts, on Wednesday I did 200+ push ups and on Thursday 100 burpees. Feeling strong.
  3. Had dinner with friends. Time goes by so fast, and it was great catching up. We decided to eat out, which meant that neither of us had to cook.
  4. Did some Christmas shopping with the teenagers. We had fun trying on headsets, testing out perfume, picking out clothes.20161203_130208
  5. Spent all day Sunday with my gang. We went to Reims for the day as there was a Christmas market. We ate out, took our time, looked at the stands, and enjoyed the Christmas atmosphere.20161204_112402
  6. We wandered through the Reims Cathedral which is one of the most famous in France. It is known particularly for its smiling angel. If you look at statues, they are usually quite sullen. There happens to be one angel with a big wide grin. fb_img_1480870512931-01-120161204_121104-01
  7. We put up our Christmas tree. We have a fake tree as we like to enjoy it for the whole month of December. We have never had a real tree, I am sure our place is too warm for it to last a month.20161203_060721
  8. I signed up for my second race of 2017, a 10K mid February. I have a 5K in February also.
  9. Travelled to Switzerland for work. Nothing feels more like winter than a decorated, cold Swiss city.
  10. Made a big decision. If you missed my coffee date post, I announced that I am going to stop blogging come January. It has been three years and I have loved every second. I love the positive energy. I love the sense of community. I love the friends / virtual friends I have made. But I need some time to do some other things in my life. So will my break be permanent ? I don’t know. I am aiming for at least 6 months and then we’ll see.

And that’s a wrap !

I am linking up with Holly and Tricia at Hoho runs and Misssippipiddlin for their Weekly Wrap. While it was cold here in France, these two lovely ladies were in Florida with Marcia, Wendy, Darlene, Judy, Karen & Mary Beth having a girls weekend. #jealous !

Does it feel like winter where you are ?

Ever feel you needed to take a break from blogging  ?

It was a great week and now that I am not training for a big race, it is much easier to be spontaneous.

It’s getting chilly but not compared to most parts of the country. I understand your need to take a break from blogging. I’ve been doing it just almost a year and sometimes life is so busy to blog. The cathedral is beautiful. I’ve never made it there when I’ve been to France.

There are so many cathedrals here… I hate to say this but after a while they all start to look the same (unless of course you are an architecture expert, which I am not)

That smiling angel looks like she’s (?) up to something mischievous 😉 I’d love to see France (or Switzerland, or any other country for that matter) at Christmas time. We’ve been to Epcot (at Disney) during the Christmas season, and it’s so beautiful seeing a “glimpse” of what happens in other countries.

    fabulously wintery…that is an oxy-moron…lol!!! I am not a winter/cold fan though so I may be a bit biased…

    Beautiful family picture!!

    Beautiful pictures period!!

    Your tree is beautiful.

I think we are going to get a real Christmas Tree this year…we will see.

One of the best things about a real tree is the smell of pine…. hope you get one !

200+ pushups and 100 burpees!!! I don’t think I’d be alive after that! I love the smiling angel. I’ve been considering whether to continue blogging. I love it for community aspect and meeting so many friends, but I have the same issue–it takes too much time away from other things I could be doing. I like the idea of doing a break–maybe I will try that too?

The one thing I will regret is less interaction with other people / bloggers, and FOMO, but there are other ways to stay connected.

I love having a real tree for the smell but you also have to deal with all the needles! I find them things for months afterward! Your tree looks so pretty I love the unique ornaments!
It was so hard leaving the beautiful panhandle of FL it rained on me for hours on my way home. But I did not go back to snow which some of our ladies did!
I hope we can get another one together for next year!

It is cold here in Dixie — low 20s — but it won’t stay that way. I can’t imagine doing 200 push ups. You rock! I also do a fake tree after a lifetime of real ones. After a couple of years of brown trees, I said “no more”! I completely understand the need for a blogging break. (Do you see how late I am reading your post? It’s hard to keep up some weeks.) I will miss you though! I adore the smiling angel! Thanks for linking, Karen!
