I started yoga about 10 years ago. I did it faithfully for many years and loved it. I even considered giving up my profession and becoming a yoga teacher, and took night and weekend classes for a year.
Then life evolved, interests changed and I wasn’t getting as much out of it as I previously had. My 90 minute class consisted of 60 minutes of poses and 30 minutes of breathing and it was not intense enough for me at that point in my life. I felt I had hit a plateau, and when I had time to exercise, I preferred something a bit more rigorous. So it took the back seat to my other fitness activities.
But lately, I seem to be surrounded by yoga. There was a #BringingYogaBack challenge in February and twitter and instagram were filled with poses. Each one brought back memories… some of my favorites, some that it took time to master, some that I had never tried. But each struck a chord. I am also on vacation in Florida with my parents and my mom does yoga almost everyday. So it seems to be calling my name.
So I have done a bit on and off this week, and did a Rodney Yee Power Yoga DVD with my mom yesterday. And it felt good. Really good. So while I do not have the time to go back to my yoga class due to my travel schedule, I am going to try to build in a bit more yoga into my regular routine.
Its like riding a bike, or coming home after you have been away for a while.
Ever stopped and activity then started up again ? What is your favorite yoga pose ?
