I runfess…I have had almost 2 months off from a training plan and I am about ready to start up again. But, I have enjoyed not having the structure, and being able to do what I want.

I runfess… I feel the need for speed. I will never win any age group award, but I think I can run faster. I am going to use the  Galloway training method again for my second marathon, but I want to focus my week day runs on running faster.

I runfess…. I have a small injury. Because I have been doing what I want, I did speed training one day, hill repeats the next, and yoga with lots of downward dogs the third and pulled something in my lower calf / soleus muscle / tendon. And it has started to radiate up the back of my leg. I haven’t seen a doctor, I am just trying to take it easy but that is so hard for me. Especially with the nice weather and daylight, I want to be up and out before 7 a.m. It is throwing off my gait, so my knee hurts. Ugh. I have been trying to stretch but it doesn’t seem to help.

I runfess… I have been tracking what I am eating. I was so worried about gaining weight in between cycles. So far, so good, no weight gain.

I runfess… I have been faithfully planking thanks to these inspiring women (Marcia, Kim, Wendy) but boy do I suck at taking pictures.

    I hope your leg feels better! As hard as it is to take time off, this is probably the best time to rest up while you’re not training. Nice job with the planks!

      I wanted to start training this coming week but I am going to have to give things a rest. But rest is so hard for me.

      I am going to continue my planking as I got to the game late, great excuse.
      I need to rest my leg but I am so bad at sitting still. Like really bad.

    Boo to the calf problem ;-( But, YAY to the planking! WE need to find another challenge to have some fun with for June……or we could just keep the planking as a constant thing (?). Your Brooks are so pretty! I don’t know if I’ve asked you about them…model?

    Confession, my right heel has been a little not-so-cooperative lately. It feels fine while running (mid-foot strike), but walking around is not so enjoyable. I’m stretching, taping, wearing the padded inserts & PF compression sleeve…and slightly scaling back the wear and tear…but…really????? Right now? at the start of summer???

      Hi Kim. I am going to continue planking a bit. I have been trying to add time every day. Push ups would be another great challenge. Sexy summer arms anyone ?

    Anything that changes your gait is definitely no bueno — everyone seems to be struggling lately & I’m sorry you are too. Hopefully it will go away soon.

    I AM tracking, but have gained a couple of pounds. I pretty much knew I would, but it’s been frustrating being in a lot of situations lately where there truly were no healthy choices. I hope to be able to buckle down in June!

    I wish you a speedy recovery! It’s the worst to have to take things easy when the weather is beautiful outside. I am amazed at all of you awesome ladies completing the plank challenge – super inspirational! Agreed, it’s so hard to take good photos during planks, I don’t know how folks do it. Good for you for tracking your eating, it really does help keep us accountable!

      I find it is easier to do a challenge when there are other inspirational ladies pushing it. What I have liked about tracking my food is that it is always a great reminder on how big our portion sizes usually are but don’t need be !

    Good for you for tracking your food! Sometimes when we strain a muscle I think just letting it rest can be the best course of action. I hope it feels better soon.

    I’ll runfess that when I plank and hit a PR — then I’ll take the picture after I’m done. If I don’t hit a PR, I don’t take a picture. Those planking ladies have really upped the game haven’t they? I hope your injury resolves itself quickly. I’ve had a few little niggles recently as well. We don’t have time for that!

      Good idea ! While planking I have been adding 5 or 10 seconds every day and doing it at least twice. Yes, serious plunkers out there. I love planking but have never pushed myself much so its been fun.

    I’m sorry to hear about your calf. Hopefully it’ll get better soon with some rest. As for the planking, great job! I would love to join in but I am terrible at taking photos while I’m working out so I stay away from posting poses.

      The planking challenge was fun but I stayed conservative with the photos. Many others did crazy (fun) things, but I am afraid my phone will fall. LOL

    I need to follow your lead and track my food and add some planks when my downtime between training cycles starts! I tried a plank challenge once and getting photos was impossible. My dog always gets in my face, too. 😉

      The plank photos have been fun, and planking has definitely tightened my core.
