Hello and Happy Friday ! Another week gone by… end of March already, wow.
I travelled for work again this week, and was in Budapest, Hungary. As compared to Istanbul the week before, I was not very motivated to sight see. My weekend had been busy and before I knew it I was packing my bag. (I actually didn’t even unpack part of it from Istanbul because I knew I was leaving right away.)
So I am a bit ashamed to say that I actually took advantage of all the amenities in and around the hotel but did not venture out very far.
Firstly, breakfast… there is someone cooking omelets for you, made to order but I was too impatient to wait in line. So scrambled eggs, ham, whole grain bread & butter and yogurt was my yummy go to breakfast.
I also took advantage of the gym. It was one of the nicest gyms I have ever been to. Seriously. My gym in France is old, the equipment is not always working nor is it up to date. So I LOVE hotel gyms. I got to use all kinds of weight machines, free weights, stationary bike, stair climber and treadmill. I worked out more than an hour two days in a row.
The gym looked out over the Danube river. You can see the fantastic view of “Buda” (city on one side of the river) as I was in “Pest” (the other side). The hotel opens the gym to the public. Can you imagine having this view every morning ? It was wonderful.
I did go out to eat one night for dinner. I just followed my colleagues who had picked out the restaurant. It was not Hungarian, but Asian. There was the big Buddha… not sure if it some kind of weird play on words with regards to BUDApest, but anyway. He stared at me all evening.
It was the first time I ordered an Asian menu, with 4 different things, and they were served all at once, in this funny tray like thing. And dessert was not Asian at all, except for the ice cream which was coconut flavored. This was all topped off with Hungarian wine. Overall, an odd combination but hey, it worked.
The second night I stayed in my room, ordered room service and was asleep by 9:30 p.m. ! A quick trip, but I took full advantage of the amenities while I could. Looking forward to the weekend.
How was your week ?
