Friday Five : This summer I will…

Great theme of Friday Five this week from Cynthia, Mar and Courtney from You signed up for what ?Mar on the RunEat Pray run DC.

I LOVE summer and am sooooo looking forward to it. It was 90 degrees today in Paris and we ate on the deck, summer is just around the corner !  So here is the top five of my summer bucket list.

This summer I will :

1. Rest. I am on screech for 10 months a year, between work, teenagers, hubby, fitness, blog, professional activities. I just want to sit and unwind.

2. Run two races. I have had a hard time finding my groove for the past month or so, so I hope that doing two races will motivate me to get back into my running routine. I signed up for the 10K Vincennes Castle Race end of June, and another race three weeks later while on vacation. Hopefully neither will be in the pouring rain like my last race.

3. Spend time with family. My kids are teenagers and growing up way too fast. They won’t want to go on vacation with us for many more years, so I am going to take advantage of their presence now. I also want to spend time with my favorite BIL and SIL who are moving to Africa for three years. We won’t see them as nearly as often as we do now. Boo hoo. I will also spend time with my mom, who is coming over to see us in August. Yeah.

4. Discover a new region in France. We are going on vacation to the South Western part of France, Les Landes. I have been in France 20 years and it is a region I have not yet been to.

5. Finish a book. I can not remember the last time I read a really good fiction.

What are you doing this summer ? Can you recommend a book ? What have you read recently that you just.can’…. ? Please advise !

Have a great weekend.

    Hello Karen,
Nice to meet you! I love the pic of your kitty in the suitcase. Mine does that EVERY time a suitcase comes out. You can almost hear him saying “take me, take me!”

I have enjoyed all of Tana French’s books. I’d start with her first one, called In The Woods.

Would love you to stop by my site & say hello!

Hi Karen! I’m catching back up on your blog. 🙂 I just read Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell, and I loved it. It’s a beautiful book, and your daughters might enjoy it as well. It takes place in the 80s, so the 80s references are a joy for anyone who went to high school back then (in other words, us). My summer reading list includes some of the big books of past years that I’ve missed along the way, such The Help, The Goldfinch, and Gone Girl.

Hi Cara, thanks for the ideas. Will check them out. Hope all is well !

Hi Karen-just getting caught up on your blogs! I am just getting back to working out taking a 4 month hiatus because of my medical condition. It feels good to start exercising again. I will be doing the Color Run next Sunday. One of my favorite books is called Replay by Ken Grimwood… “A novel of gripping adventure, romance, and fascinating speculation on the nature of time, Replay asks the question: “What if you could live your life over again?” We read this for Book Club a couple of years ago and we all gave it an “A”. The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman is very good as well. You will not be disappointed by either of these books.

Hi Tammi, thanks for commenting. Hope you are feeling better. Looks like you had a great trip to see Shawn. I have not yet tried a color run but I know how popular they are. I will check out the books you recommended. All my best !
