Friday Five : five things in my gym bag

Its Friday ! We have a four day weekend here in France., so I am fully enjoying my time off.

I am hooking up with Courtney at Eat Pray Run, Cynthia You Signed Up for What and Mar at Mar on the Run for Friday Five, where the theme of the week is five things in my gym bag.

Its quite minimal and besides my workout clothes and towel, here is what you would generally find :

1. My Ipod. I always work out to music.

 2. Empty water bottle. I always fill it up at the gym

 3. Several pairs of socks. If I tend to forgot something, its socks, so I always make sure there are a couple extra pairs. And I am specific about which socks go with which sneakers… which leads me to the fourth point.

4. Choice of sneakers. When I go to the gym I do not always have a plan. So I have my running sneakers and a more fitness-type sneaker. Just in case.

5. This headband thing. Its been in my bag for probably a year but I never wear it. It slips backwards and with my glasses it just does not fit right.

Pretty minimalist, but it fits my needs.

    I like the Bondiband headbands and they do not slip at all. Also, if you happen to sweat profusely like I do on a long run, they absorb all that nastiness!

    Love that you are minimalist cus really, what all do you really need for a great workout? Perfect! (love sweatybands too. In fact, it’s one of the prizes given away in our Scavenger hunt this weekend on the blog).

  4. Enjoy your long weekend! Minimalist is good too. I am really a hazard to the environment and I go through lots of plastic water bottles. Something to work on!

    I wear the old school Goodi headband with the elastic strip on the bottom so it does not slip! I love them!

    Love that pic of you with the headband on! I find the same problem! My shortest layer is long enough now that all of my hair stays in the ponytail, so I din’t really need a headband. I’ve heard that SweatyBands are good.
    My bag is also quite minimalist since I don’t shower at the gym. Water bottle, deoderant, arm band for my phone, and print-outs of workouts I like to do.
    What’s the occasion for the extended weekend?

      Thursday in France was the Ascension (we get most of the Catholic holidays off) and my company gave us Friday off. This coming weekend is also a three day weekend. Monday, June 9th we get off for Pentacost!

    We’re the same with multiple pairs of socks! That’s great you have two types of shoes, I really only have running shoes and want to get general fitness shoes to use for other things so I’m not always using my running shoes! Headbands – I swore that my head wasn’t made for headbands but lately I’m loving Bani bands and Sweaty Bands. And Sparkly soul for some sparkle! They all seem to stay on so I’ve been proven wrong!

      Will check into the headband brands. I swear too, my head is not made for head bands but with everyone having such good luck with them, I figure maybe I am just missing something !

      Being caught without socks is the worse. I had to once workout in nylon stockings. It was awful, my feet were slippery in my sneakers ! A definite workout bummer…

    Usually my hair is long enough to stay out of my face if I pull it into a pony tail. But since I started using my crosstrainer I use a headband. Because then somehow, my hair gets in my face. And that’s awful.

    I use a cheap cotton head band.

    I used to hate headbands because they always would slip out of my very fine hair. I tried the Sparkly Soul headbands and they stay put. I love them!

    I need to be better about bringing an empty waterbottle! I use clips in my hair, but sometimes I have my BAMR band on 🙂
