Friday five : Favorite motivational quotes

I am linking up with Courtney at Eat Pray Run, Cynthia at You Signed Up for What, and Mar at Mar on the Run for this week’s Friday Five, which is a favorites theme.

Its the beginning of 2016 and I have set some ambitious but exciting goals for the year. One of the ways I stay focused is regularly reading motivational quotes. As soon as I see one that resonates, I write it down.

So here are 5 that have been a source of inspiration lately :

  1. ”My goal is to build a life I don’t need a vacation from”. @thefitwanderluster
  2. “With a journey driven approach, you’ll find more peace in the process and more clarity when stuff goes wrong, and you’ll experience more life along the way”. Lauren Fleshman (with my marathon training, its ALL about the journey for me)
  3. ”You can have results or excuses. Not both.”
  4. ”Wake up with determination. Go to bed with satisfaction.”
  5. ”Whatever you’re meant to do, do it now. The conditions will always be impossible.”

(Sorry, I didn’t note the source of the last 3. If you know who said them, please let me know).

Its winter, I am in the middle of marathon training, I run before work when its dark, I have tough clients, two teenagers… so pep talks are needed once in a while for me to stay focused on my healthy living lifestyle and goals.

A small pep talk got me out the door to run on my lunch hour and I was blessed with bright sun, shining only during that one hour. It was like a shot of energy right to the veins ; I came home glowing in the aftermath of a fantastic run.

I love your quotes and totally appreciate what you said about marathon training. Waking up with determination and going to bed satisfied is probably my favorite of the quotes you posted. Right now I am dealing with an injury from my marathon and I sure hope to be back pounding the roads soon.

Hope you are better soon. Injury is hard to deal with but I believe it makes us a stronger person (runner) in the long run.

Every year I like to pick a mantra! Last year it was “Don’t Stop Believin” and this year it is “Find Joy in the Journey”. Also I’m loving Coldplay’s song “Adventure of a Lifetime” which may be my theme song for this year. I’ve got some fun plans ahead!

I love # 1. I tried hard to make my back yard like a vacation spot so every summer weekend would feel like one. Unfortunately, that takes a lot of work. Marathon and half marathon training cuts into that. But I still enjoy being out there. I also like your # 5. I don’t like to put things off. Go ahead and do it.

“It’s A Dig Deep Day” has been one of my favorites sayings for years on particularly trying days.
