Good morning Friday ! I am linking up with Courtney at Eat Pray Run, Cynthia at You Signed Up for What, Mar at Mar on the Run for the Friday Five where the theme this week is Five Fall Races.

Racing is definitely at the top of my mind at the moment (Fall races to enjoy in France)…. this post dates from mid July, so you can tell iI have been thinking about this season for a while !

We have some really great races in and around Paris in the fall. I have signed up for 4 so far, and  am impatiently waiting for registration to open for a fifth. Here are the races I have chosen and my motivations for doing so :

1. September 13 – La Parisienne : 6,7 km, 100% women, with over 40 000 runners. I do this race every year with my colleagues, and we always have so much fun (2014 recap).

2. September 27 – Paris Versailles : an iconic 16K going from Paris to Versailles. I have never done this race but it is one of the most well known in Paris. Everyone talks about the hills though and I have not trained at all with hill work…. hmmm. We’ll see !

3. October 11 – 10K in Nogent : a small race in a town near where I live. I was looking for a race that particular weekend and distance + location fit perfectly.

4. October 25 – Half marathon of Vincennes. I was looking for a half marathon that fit into my training plan, and this one fit the bill. This will only be my second half marathon (first one here). Not to mention it is about 3 miles from my house !

5. November 22, the Four Castles race south of Paris. I have heard great things about this, how pretty it is running past five castles actually ! (photo credits : race site) but registration is not yet open.

I am impatiently waiting for race season to start !

What is on your race calendar for the fall ? I will be in the NY/NJ area on November 11. Anyone know if any races on that day ?

All sound like great races. I hate training on hills too. Come race day I just wing it and pray for the best. It has worked for the most part for me:)

I actually don’t mind running hills… I just haven’t gotten around to any official training on them !

Oh your races sound AMAZING!!! I can’t imagine running past castles. So so cool! I don’t have any specific races on the schedule yet, but we usually do a Turkey Trot and I’m thinking of signing up for another Half soon!

Both sound good to me ! We do not have Turkey trots here… not Thanksgiving in France. 🙁

Wow, that 4 castles race looks beautiful! Has your weather started turning to fall yet? We had a few cool nights but now another hot and humid spell.

Things have definitely started to cool off. I wore running pants and a light long sleeve top this week. Was a little warm, but not overly warm.

I would so enjoy the scenery at the Four Castles race. That sounds just perfect. La Parisienne is a huge race and with all women too! Sounds like a lot of fun to run it with friends.

It is one of those races you run for the fun, and I love seeing all the positive encouragement from the women. It is often the first race women do once they start running (or start running because of that race)

Such great rqces – the castle one looks amazing. I am running the Brooklyn RNR half on Oct 10 and a 5k in NYC the day before the NYC marathon. I am psyched for both.
