Fitted, flattering and feminine

I am linking up with Marcia at Marcia’s Healthy Slice, Erika at MCM Mama runs and Patty at My no guilt life for Tuesdays on the run where today’s topic is Race shirt etiquette.

Wearing TO the race or only AFTER finishing ? It doesn’t really matter to me. I am too pragmatic and would never wear a new shirt to a race. Chafing anyone ? I would rarely wear one afterwards either.

Indeed, I am VERY picky about my running clothes, and that includes race shirts. Not only do I favor comfort, but I like looking / feeling good because it boosts my confidence (vanity was the topic of my November Runfessions.) I like my shirts fitted, flattering and feminine.

So, when I receive an oversized, boxy, men’s tshirt, you can bet 1000 bucks that I won’t wear it. Ever. Unless it is to take a crazy picture for a contest a local running group was having.

Or because I am running a race where my company paid the registration fee (WHY did it have to be yellow ?  Ugh).

The one shirt I will wear – after the race – is the marathon finisher shirt that I will get April 3rd. … Each time someone runs past me with last year’s shirt, I have tshirt envy.

I am just praying it is fitted, flattering and feminine.

I love this! I am very picky about shirts, too, and truth be told (runfession?) sometimes I wish for a cotton finisher shirt…

I can’t wait for your marathon recap! Have you started to taper?

Just started to taper this week. My last long run was Sunday. I am actually GLAD to taper… the training was quite intense.

I agree 100% on the fit comment. I have about a dozen race shirts that I’ve never worn because they’re a men’s cut. Also…you ran Paris to Versailles?!?!? That’s my dream race! Seriously I’ve been researching it for at least 5 years. One year it fell right around my Birthday and I thought about going but couldn’t find a buddy to travel with me. Now I’m going to dig around your blog for that race recap 🙂

This year was my first time. I LOVED the race. Unfortunately I can not do it this year because I have a wedding, but how about a Paris trip in 2017 ? The race is GREAT but you have to sign up really early ! Did you find the recap ?

  3. I agree with you! The boxy shirts rarely fit me and I might wear them around the house but rarely do I wear them out.

Seriously, why do they insist on crappy fitting shirts ?

I am with you — looking good boosts my confidence, but unfortunately it feeds my athleisure clothes addiction.

You better wear that shirt! You will definitely earn it.

Athleisure clothes addiction… I had never heard the word but that describes it exactly ! LOL
And yes, I will wear the shirt !

I sure hope the fashion-savvy French will get the Paris Marathon shirt right! They should have YSL or Chanel design it!

I hope it fits nicely, too!! I too, don’t wear race shirts for much because they never fit right. Where do they get their models? LOL

I hope that Paris shirt is fitted and flattering, you should enjoy wearing it! I have thick shoulders and i am thick in my back area, so I have a hard time with shirts. Race shirts often don’t fit well. I don’t recall ever wearing a shirt to the race, but I do have a few I run around in 🙂

I so hope your marathon finishers shirt is perfect! I was quite pleased with mine and I have wore it several times! What about a jacket will you get one? I did not fork out the $90 or whatever it was for one, course now I’m wishing I had.

I ran a half a few years ago that bragged how it had the “best goodie bag” in Chicago. Big ugly man shirt? Or as they called it unisex? Not so much!

But I would wear the Paris marathon shirt proudly. I love my Chicago marathon shirts (i have several) and wear them all the time!

Very few I’ve received meet your FFF requirement. My kids get a lot of them, especially if they run out of my size. I love my marathon shirt. I’d seriously wear it every day! LOL. I get comments on it all the time. You’ll be wearing your loud and proud very soon b

    • Karen - Fit in France March 25, 2016 at 8:08 pm Reply

Yes ! I am just hoping it fits well enough to be able to wear regularly. I see so many people with last year’s tshirt that I am assuming they must fit pretty well.
