First day of staycation

Happy Easter weekend everyone ! In France we have the Monday after Easter off, and it is school vacation.  I took the week off to be with my girls and have some much needed downtime.

I have 6 weeks vacation in France and I usually take 3 weeks in the summer, one week at Christmas, one week in April and a few days here and there. I hadn’t taken much time off since December, so I am really looking forward to this week.

I was up early and started off with my meal planning. As I will have more time to cook this week, I wanted to try a couple new recipes. I found some new recipes on the Cooking Light website and in the 21 Day Sugar Detox cookbook that I want to try. Will keep you posted.

I then went to the market. Fresh produce, fresh fish and veal roast for Easter Sunday.

I went to the pool with my daughter. One hour swimming laps felt great. I actually went for a long walk Thursday and a run Friday evening, but I just wasn’t into it. My foot hurt, my knee hurt and I was feeling the start of shin splints. Being in heels all week probably didn’t help.

I spent a good part of my afternoon cooking, and some of that was spent making cookies with my daughter. We had a small bag of Nestlé chocolate chips that we had brought back from the US on our last visit, so no better moment to use them. Before and after photos.

My husband and I then went for a walk. There is a restaurant five minutes from where we live that we love, and the owner has just opened a bar / cafe. We hadn’t tried it yet. It was a nice break.

So all in all, a good start to my staycation. I have lots on my to do list for the next few days : house projects and paperwork, exercise, movies, family time, my girls and I would like to go into Paris, and hoping to go away a couple days. We’ll see !

How was the start to your weekend ?

You are sooooo lucky you have 6 weeks! My husband and I love to travel plus his entire family lives in Australia so we have to travel there periodically to see them and I never have enough days! Ahhh, gotta love US employment policies! 🙂

I really hope you enjoy your staycation! 🙂

Six weeks sounds divine! That’s good that you actually take all of the time. Most people in the US don’t. And three weeks in the summer?! Yes, please!
My husband also had the week off for school vacation, but he did plenty of work. It was nice to have him at home when I got home, though. Hope you enjoyed!

I enjoyed my week but as usual it goes too fast. We have several long weekends in May, due to bank holidays. Even if I like long weekends, its sometimes a bit too much. I have a 3 day week this week though so I don’t want to complain.

P.S. Sorry your foot and knee are bothering you. I listened to a really interesting podcast on foot health that has me seriously contemplating changing my footwear. Not sure how iTunes works in France, but here’s a link to the website: http://notjustpaleo.com/drray/

Am going to check out the pod cast. Thanks !
