Favorite fall activities

Hello Friday ! I am linking up with Courtney at Eat Pray Run, Cynthia at You Signed Up for What, Mar at Mar on the Run for the Friday Five where the theme this week is favorite fall activities.

Here is what I love doing in the fall :

1. Spending time in the farmer’s market. I love fall fruits & veggies.

2. Cooking all the yummy veggies I find (please refer to point 1). This week was already filled with butternut squash and Brussel sprouts. Apple crisp is next on my list.

3. Races. There are many iconic races in France from September to November. I am already anticipating my 16K race  this coming Sunday, after a close call (I had forgotten to pay my registration fee). I have an official bib, but my name is Ninis.

4. Running in cooler temps. While this is very unoriginal, this is a running blog and I don’t know many people who actually prefer to run in the heat. The only downside is avoiding the mine field of chestnuts !

5. Thanksgiving. While we do not officially celebrate it in France, we have an American friend who invites us every year. Turkey, stuffing, corn bread, gravy, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie… things you NEVER find in France.

What do you like about the fall ?

I have actually heard of runners that do prefer the heat. I guess some people are just crazy!

Thanksgiving has never really been my favorite holiday. Not fond of turkey. We always ate too late. My mom always made too much stuff and therefore nothing was really at the right temperature.

I guess I don’t really get into any holidays all that much, especially being Jewish. My favorite is my birthday — Valentine’s Day. Even if the weather usually sucks.

I love all the fall veggies that are in season. Roasting them is one of my favorite ways to cook them.

A love Thanksgiving because my MIL insists on hosting dinner and doing the majority of the cooking herself. A win for me and so much easier than Christmas. I’ve been enjoying everything pumpkin flavored recently. Good luck in your race this weekend!

I forget about pumpkin flavored things. Pumpkin flavored things are only in the US…. for some reason we don’t get any of that here.

My friend insists on doing all the cooking. We can not bring a thing. So much work for him, but great for us.

It was a good distance, especially considering that over half of it is all up hill !

Hooray for running in cooler temps! But this week that means the cooler temps PLUS RAIN. Ugh.
