Blog-versary & blog break

Today, January 1st, 2017 marks the third anniversary of French Inspiration, my personal blog. I started this to keep me accountable in my daily quest for staying fit (in France!) and in my forties. It was also a way of connecting with my friends & family in the US, keeping them up to date on my life here in Europe, and to give readers a peak into the French lifestyle.

These three years have been amazing. The best thing about the experience was the new friends I have met, both virtually and in person. People I never would have connected with other wise. People who think exactly as I do, who have the same interests and the same struggles. The accountability of posting my workouts has been life changing, keeping me focused and continually motivated to always do my best. I NEVER would have run a marathon if I hadn’t been a blogger, I’m sure. And this year, I did two ! Definitely my biggest accomplishment because of my blog.

But I have decided it is time for a break. The next few months are going to be very busy for me, both personally and professionally, with things that are going to need my attention (hello ! How to finance a US college education for my senior ?!) and I have some big travel with work.

So I am taking a break. Not sure if it will be a month. Maybe I will join the Virtual coffee date at the beginning of February ? Maybe a 3 month break…. after my big travel ? Possible a permanent break ? I don’t know. I am being flexible about it.

Who know’s ? You might just see me back here in 2 weeks time !

In the meantime, I want to thank you, my readers, for reading and commenting on my blog. A special shout out to the following bloggers who have encouraged, inspired, motivated and supported me through this journey.

I’m so glad the blogosphere brought us together. I loved seeing glimpses into your life and following your dedication through your marathon training. You may be the only person I know who didn’t get injured in the process – such an accomplishment and inspiration.

I’m so excited for your daughter. You will figure out the finances and all the rest will fall into place too.

You are welcome to drop by for coffee anytime. 🙂

Happy New Year, Happy Blogiversary,, and a bientot!

Happy New Year! I have so enjoyed your blogs on your training/exercise and just life in general in France. I feel through your posts I have been able to “keep in touch” with my filter across the Atlantic. I would be remiss if I did not say I will miss them and pictures of your family. I have loved to see how the girls have been growing up over the last 3 years. I hope we continue to keep in touch. Here’s to an eventful 2017!😀

I’ve been blogging for almost 3 years too, it will be 3 in April and there are times when I’ve felt like I would stop but it has brought me to know so many awesome bloggers and I just can’t yet, even if I do take a break. Enjoy your time away from the blog! See you on IG!

Yes, I have filled the month with other things. I miss connecting with all the people and bloggers, but have been fulfilling my life with other things I love.

You have been an inspiration to me!! and I appreciate your advice and help with the intervals and training 🙂 I feel like you, I am not sure I would have run a marathon without the support and being able to work out my fears about training through my blog. I am so thankful I was able to accomplish that and it is wonderful you have done it twice!
You can always pop in and out – I have done that over the years…sometimes things just get really busy and blogging although wonderful is time consuming.
I hope all goes well for you 🙂 Stay in touch!

Oh Karen, I’m going to miss you, but I totally know how it goes! When I had my baby 2 years ago, I had to seriously dial back my blogging. I have really just done the very minimum to keep it alive. It’s been sad. BUT, I think this year I’ll finally be able to start ramping back up again. I wish you all the best! Thanks for being such a running inspiration to me! I always love all of your pictures and reading about all of your races!!! <3

I’m sorry you won’t be around as much, but I totally understand. My own blogging when I went back to college last fall had to take a back burner to life.
Will you be keeping up yourr IG account, I’ve loved following your travels on there, sometimes IG is the only way I follow most anymore!
