Hello ! Its been a few days but things have been a bit crazy, with us having been away for a few days. Wednesday already, can’t believe it.
As the US continues to be hit with snow and cold weather, I can not complain here in France. It has been in the 50s all week. The sun is higher in the sky, the days are longer, there is an energy in the air that says spring is definitely around the corner. I love it ! Daffodils from my mother in law’s.
I have been busy doing a few things lately …. Firstly, planning weekends and summer vacation. In France, we are very lucky when it comes to having long weekends in April, May and June. We usually go to our country home, but also plan a couple weekends away.
I am going away for work mid March, to Turkey. I have never been to Istanbul and am really looking forward to it… the food, the architecture and the Bazar. I love discovering new places. Everyone I know who has been to Istanbul loves it. I won’t have much time to sightsee, but hope to get at least a day in.
We have decided to go away for a long weekend in April, to visit my brother in law and sister in law, who live in the Loire Valley. I have visited many of the Loire castles, so not planning on doing much sightseeing, perhaps one or two, maybe a wine tasting.
Also planning summer vacation. We have decided to go to the South Western coast of France, in Aquitaine. Its an area that I have never been to, in between Bordeaux and Biarritz. We are going to a resort where there will be activities for all members of the family – golf, circus, fitness classes for me. St. Sebastian in Spain is also not far away.
With 2 adolescents, we need to keep them busy. It took us a while to decide, as I usually send my kids to the US in the summer, but we wanted something different this year. Very excited but I spent hours on the internet looking at different options & very happy with the decision we have made !
Secondly, I have been scouring the web to find an upcoming race. Found one for the last weekend in April, when I’ll be in the Loire Valley. There is a 11km race at Azay Le Rideau, through the countryside and in and around the apple and pear trees (so it says).
My husband’s birthday is this coming weekend, so planning that has also kept me busy.
Overall, a really good week so far. I like things busy. I always need to have something to look forward to. How has your week been ? What are you looking forward to this spring ?
