Ballet, planking and push ups

My fitness has taken a back seat at the moment due to a pesky lower leg pain. So as much as I tried to stay active this week, I would prefer to be running :

  • Monday : Off. Pouring rain. No motivation to go to the gym.
  • Tuesday : Off. Pouring rain. No motivation to go anywhere.
  • Wednesday : I was so ready to workout ! 40 minute walk + 30 minutes weights + 10 minute ab work in the morning. 35 minutes of strong laps in the pool at lunch.
  • Thursday : Off.
  • Friday : One hour of laps at the pool.
  • Saturday : 25 minutes weights + 15 minutes abwork +  2km walk.
  • Sunday : One hour walk 5,5 km (included 1 km run) + 100 push ups (not all at the same time). Today marks the beginning of the push up challenge.

I also planked every day. Yeah !


I was very busy this weekend, while my husband is away.

Saturday :

I spent at least 4 hours cleaning my bedroom, going through my running clothes, rotating summer and winter clothes (yes I was am STILL wearing some of my winter things), took everything out from under the bed to vacuum and wash the floor. Now I can see all of my running and fitness things :


My daughter and I went to the ballet Saturday evening to see Gisele. My husband and I used to go regularly but I got tired of it, I found that most of the classical ballets were very similar. But I was happy to go back after so many years, the show was spectacular.

There are 2 ballet / opera houses in Paris, but this show was in the Garnier Opera house :

Sunday started off with a long walk, push ups and planking. I was with my daughter and we would stop at benches, she would jump rope and I would do my push ups. We ended off with some planking :

Sunday afternoon I went with my daughter to her golf lessons. My husband always goes with her, so it was fun to watch :

Then I came home and crashed on the couch for 2 hours. Guess I was tired !

The sun finally came out this evening and we ate dinner outside. Days are light here until past 10 p.m. Let’s hope that the sun stays .

    Those opera houses are so beautiful! I never really got into dance…didn’t have much access or exposure to it growing up. It is certainly beautiful. Sounds like you are doing a good job with maintaining fitness, despite the challenges and uncooperative weather. And enjoy that sunshine while it lasts! We aren’t light quite that late (maybe 5:15AM – 8:45PM right now) but it is still so amazing compared to winter.

    Sorry that your still having issues.

    Looks like a good week. Great job on planking.

    How pretty the opera house and ballet. I haven’t been to the ballet in so long.

      Living in a big city definitely has its advantages, like the ballet. I just don’t take advantage of them enough.

    Wow, you got to 100 today! Very impressive!

    The only ballet I’ve ever seen is Giselle! But I don’t remember much about it–that was a long time ago. I’d like to go back. We have the Lyric Opera House here in Chicago and it is spectacular. I actually saw Emmylou Harris there as well. I really enjoyed that!

      There is so much to see and do in big cities. I love musicals also, but we have very few in France. French people don’t like them much. But the ballet, concerts and the opera…. there are a ton to chose from !

    That Opera house is so beautiful. I have never been to the ballet or the Opera. I would enjoy the ballet and Carmen is my favorite opera.

      I dislike the opera, it drives me nuts that I have to read while they sing. I only went to one and vowed never to go again !
      I want to have the ok from the doctor before running again. But he’d better give me the OK, I have 2 races this month.

    The ballet sounds interesting. I haven’t gone to a full show, just the Nutcracker every Christmas. Great job on the pushup challenge!! I hope the leg pain goes away and you’re able to run healthy again soon.

    Love ballet & haven’t been in yrs. One of these days I’ll get to it in Saratoga!

    Sounds like a very solid week & I think you plank even better than your daughter!

    Yesterday was rainy too & aside from walking Lola in a break in the rain (mostly a break), I did next to nothing. We watched 2 movies. But no more cookies . . .

    Ahh, lower leg pain. My left leg bothered me this past week too, but I finally got a run in on Saturday. I love going to the ballet and that opera house is just gorgeous. I need to see what is going on in Paris when we are there in September.. It’s nice you were able to spend time with each of your daughters on their own.

    Oh my goodness, I’m jealous of your ballet trip and the opera house is stunning! I’m also jealous of your closet cleanout. That is on my list of things I must do ASAP and it just keeps getting pushed back. Good job planking again this week and I hope your leg is feeling better.

    I’ve been to the ballet a few times. The Nutcracker is a favorite. I’m impressed with your hour of laps in the pool! Thirty minutes wears me out. That sounds like a fun workout with your daughter on Sunday! Thanks for supporting the WW Karen!

      The nutcracker is one I have never seen.
      For the pool, I start off with 30 minutes then just keep adding time, depending on my mood. It quickly turns into an hour !

    Your pics of the Garnier Opera House bring back great memories! Whenver we visit paris, we stay very closeby. Looks like you had more fun with your daughters. I hope that rain stops already.

    That Opera House is exquisite! I don’t think anyone will feel that way about modern buildings 200 years from now, do you?
    I love the ballet … About once a year.

    I love all of your planking!! Woo hoo! I’m sorry you’re dealing with leg pain though. No fun. I soooooo need to clean out my room and closet. It’s at the top of my list….but it’s been at the top of my list for a while now. Sigh. 🙁 That opera house is unbelievable!!!

    Beautiful pictures of the Opera House! I’ve been to the ballet performances here a few times. They do a great performance of The Nutcracker each year around Christmas time. Sorry you’re still having leg pain. Nice job staying active despite not being able to run. Way to go on 100 pushups!
