Back to regular programming

The week was a whirlwind. After being in NY for the NYC Marathon I spent some time in Maine with my parents. I left Sunday but not before laughing with my parents while taking selfies.

I arrived back in France early Monday morning and had 3 insane days at work with 12 hour days sitting in meetings, eating meeting food & restaurant food. So come Thursday I was ready to get back to my regular programming.

  • Get fresh air
  • Get my fitness on
  • Eat whole foods
  • Get caught up on my sleep
  • Connect with my family & relax

Get fresh air : I ran twice, and had nice weather even if it has cooled off quite a bit. There are fewer runners out this time of year.

Get my fitness on : In addition to running Thursday and Friday, I made it to the gym for a killer upper body workout Saturday, and did a leg workout at home Sunday. I felt really proud sporting my NYC marathon tshirt.

Eat whole foods : This meal was amazing. I had marinated salmon in an Asian type sauce, had it with rice, fresh spinach and topped with sesame seeds.

Get caught up on my sleep :  I am not affected much by the time difference and jet lag. As I have spent years going back and forth to the US I know how to manage my sleep but as I get older, it is becoming a bit harder. Come the weekend, I felt the need to 1) nap and 2)sleep late on Sunday. 8 a.m. ! This is so late for me I felt I missed out on half my day.

Connect with family & relax : We didn’t have much planned this weekend, so I read a bit, cleaned & decluttered (which is how I relax), and watched a bunch of movies & series. It was cold and rainy over the weekend, so I didn’t much want to be outside.

Wishing you all safe travels for Thanksgiving and enjoy the time with your friends and family. We don’t have Thanksgiving off (it is a US holiday) but will be celebrating, as we are invited by an American friend every year.

A big shout out to Kim @ Runs on the fly today on her marathon !

That is a wrap !

I am linking up with Holly and Tricia at Hoho runs and Misssippipiddlin for their Weekly Wrap.

Are you traveling for Thanksgiving ?

Do you like cleaning & decluttering ?

Has it cooled off in your neck of the woods ?

It dropped more than 30 degrees overnight and snowed (but not by Darlene, apparently, we live about 30 minutes apart).

No, I do not like decluttering and cleaning at all and of course I am doing an awful lot of it right now!

I seriously can’t imagine sleeping in til 8 am. That doesn’t happen for me. Pretty much ever!

In the US people generally get up earlier but in France ? 6 a.m. is really really early ! 7 is the norm.

Funny how sleeping until 8 feels like sleeping in! But I totally get it–a few weeks ago I slept past 7 and I felt like I missed something. It feels good, tho!

If I sleep late it is because my body needed it. I am sure I need to catch up from my marathon training too + jet lag + time change

Dang girl, I think you need to come to Chicago and “relax” at my place! Love the parental selfie. So cute! It has totally cooled here (finally) as well. Sigh. I am traveling for Thanksgiving but just across town.

I know, I am one of those Atypes that can not sit still for a second, constantly moving, multi tasking and finding something to do !

Wow, you did have to jump right back into work, didn’t you? LOL on sleeping in until 8 am. I think 7 is the lasted I’ve done recently, and that was before we changed the clocks. I usually wake up with the daylight if I don’t set an alarm. My husband, on the other hand, can sleep until 8 no matter how light it is outside. Have a great week!

I must have been tired, I think the time change and jet lag took a toll by the end of the week.

It finally cooled off this weekend and the trails were empty! I spent a lot of time decluttering this weekend to prepare for a friend’s stay next weekend. It was kind of relaxing, but also frustrating because we’ve accumulated so much crap! 😉 Have a great week!

If I haven’t used it for 2 years, I either trash it or donate it. Feels so good.

Nice to hear that you will still enjoy Thanksgiving while being over there. That salmon dish looks delicious. I always love sporting my race shirts after the races, especially when it is recent.

The shirt is long sleeves, not sure how I am going to feel about it, definitely prefer something more summery. But hey, not complaining.

Haha, I love the selfie with the parents…you’re Mom is so cute! If I sleep past 7 I get a terrible headache… I just don’t know how these teens sleep so late! But now I do know how to “relax” in every sense of the word! I wish that I could clean and declutter for relaxation, but that’s work to me! 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving to you too Karen!

I’m hosting and cooking for Thanksgiving, so I’ve been doing a ton of cleaning. I love to declutter and organize. I feel the same way when I sleep “late!”

Maybe being cooped up a bit makes me want to clean more ? All I want to do is go through closets, drawers and cupboards.

Sounds like things are getting back to normal for you. It’s so funny, I went from Eastern Standard Time to Central, to Mountain time and back and I was SO messed up with my sleeping schedule! I can’t imagine traveling all around the world!

We’re having Thanksgiving in our new home with both our families. We’re looking forward to it!

Ahhh…it is so rare to sleep late. And so appreciated! I know what you mean about wanting “real” food. I get tired of eating out but then I don’t always want to always cook — so it’s a Catch 22. I love your NYC race shirt. It’s a great color on you too! Your parents are adorable. Have you thought about what’s next on your running schedule? Thanks for linking, Karen! You can come over and declutter my house any time.

Only a 5K on my race schedule at the moment, in February. I am itching to find a spring half marathon but it is very hard to decide because it is the moment I Have so much travel for work…
