August Runfessions

I linking up with Marcia at Marcia’s Healthy Slice for Runfessions and since the Friday Five theme is of my choice this week, I also am linking up with Courtney at Eat Pray Run, Cynthia at You Signed Up for What, and Mar at Mar on the Run. I have been so busy all summer my blogging took a back seat, so I am glad to be linking up and connecting with you all.

I runfess….I was loving marathon training in the summer (as compared to the dead of winter). Being light out makes it so much easier to get up and out. However, taking a 2 week vacation in a hot country really threw things off. Physically and mentally it has been hard to find my rhythm since mid August. This threw things off :

I runfess…many times I have thought I must be crazy to have signed up for a second marathon in a year.

I runfess….despite points 1 and 2 above, I realize I do love the structure of a training plan. It gives me that little extra nudge to get out the door and run more regularly that I normally would.

I runfess…. I indulged on vacation. Since I have been back I have really been cleaning up my diet and I feel great. (I tried many typical Greek dishes while there)

I runfess ….I am really looking forward to school starting for my girls next week. The school year adds structure to our week that I like. Having the down time over the summer has been great but it is time.

What do you have to runfess this month ?

Are you faithfully following your training plan this summer ?

I much prefer training in the summer too than the winter. And I think everyone always splurged a bit on vacation. Once in awhile will never hurt anyone:)

You are right. I just need to get back in the groove now.

When I’m not sick or have family obligations I’m very faithful. 🙂

Things should finally slow down for me (except the running, that increases) in September & that much needed long weekend — still a month away tho. 🙁

I love having long weekends to look forward to. We have a wedding in Sept and then one week of US travel for work.

I hear you on being thrown off by vacay. This happened when I spent 3 weeks in Europe last summer. My training is off the tracks for different reasons this year, mostly heat and probably moreso lack of motivation. That Greek dish looks good. And how can you refuse NYCM? Answer: you simply can’t. One way or another you will be ready! Thanks for linking!

I know I can’t refuse NYCM… not only is it a one in the lifetime but its a big vacation for my husband and I, AND I have spent all kinds of money. So no backing out. (not that I would but I have really thought I must have lost my mind doing a second marathon in a year)

The humidity has been awful in the states but in the middle of winter it won’t seem so bad !

vacation looked totally worth it! and part of the fun is indulging a little 🙂
I do well having a plan of what I want to accomplish each week, but don’t do well keeping an exact day to day schedule. I will be doing back flips when it is finally cold! I can’t wait.

You have had brutal heat this summer. Not sure how you do all that humidity

I agree with the structure of the school year. I love having the kids home (well, the ones that don’t live half way across the country), but there is a lot more chaos and clutter (their’s, not mine) everywhere. There are more late nights (and all-nighters), followed by late mornings….yadda yadda yadda.

Yes. I get it. Its fun but I am glad the whole year doesn’t resemble the summer.

    Your holiday location looks lovely.

I’ve was thrown off a bit this summer and even though I have a half marathon in 4 weeks I’ve only just got into my stride with following my plan!

I am sure my stride will come back, but I need life to be more routinely in general

I runfess that even though I promised I’d clean up my diet in August, I haven’t yet!

I realized this week how much I missed the routine of the boys being in school. I only have one boy in school but still, I feel so much better. But I will miss summer, as I always do! We haven’t had a great one here…

I admit to liking the structure that comes with the school year too! My diet certainly has not been very clean lately either.
