A week of randomness

Hello everyone ! Hope you are looking forward to the weekend and are having as nice weather as we are here in Paris.

This past week was crazy busy, so here are some photos (a.k.a.photo dump) of the highlights. Very random, but that’s how life is sometimes.

A week ago my daughter had a gymnastics meet. She placed second for the uneven bars. Go girl !

Last weekend I was very busy with a family event a school fair and didn’t take any pictures. I worked at the school fair from 11 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with about a 10 minute break. The only thing I took a picture of last weekend were these cherries… tis the season !

After that fun but tiring weekend I headed off to New York City for work. I hadn’t been in 3 years and was thrilled to be there. I of course had to work quite but found time to walk around and do a bit of shopping, my hotel was right near Times Square – so convenient.

So typically New York :

I ate bagels. You can not get (good) toasted bagels in Paris, and Starbucks is not near where I live, so I always get both for breakfast whenever I am in NY.

World Cup Fever. I visited the Nike Store. They were promoting their new soccer shoe and a bunch of guys were trying them out inside this glass box.

So many food choices ! I had the hardest time deciding what to eat, especially trying to eat relatively healthy. So one day I chose Le Pain Quotidien. I find it a shame that we can find the exact same restaurants and exact same menus in Paris and New York (and London for that matter). Sometimes globalisation has its downsides…

Open faced tartine with smoked turkey, avocado and salsa.

Exercise. And finally, I got a new pair of running shoes. I had worn Asics Nimbus for many years and didn’t like the Nimbus 14 so changed to Brooks. I never got used to them. So I bought the Asics Nimbus 16.  I was really happy to find them in white and they felt solo good when I put them on. I have not tried them yet as I have a race next weekend and am a bit nervous to try a new shoe one week before. We’ll see.

Glad you had a great time in NYC! I get LPQ for lunch sometimes. I really like it but I hear your point about it being the same everywhere.

As far as healthy options LPQ are great and I like the communal table, a rarity these days.

I like the communal table too. It changes the whole experience.

Nice, I grew up in NJ so I have a soft spot for NYC! Good bagels are a must whenever I go home. You can obviously get them in Cali where I live, but they just aren’t as yummy as in NY/NJ.

Agree ! You can find plain bagels here, but so industrial. That’s ok, each region has its specialty.
