Lots of family. Lots less fitness.

It was a very busy week filled with more travel, lots of family and not much fitness.

Travel. I was in London for 2 days and had a great view of the London bridge from my hotel room.

I knew I was going to be busy and didn’t bring what I needed to exercise,, though I had seriously considered it. Early on the second day I was woken up at 6 a.m. by lots of noise. I looked out my window and saw this :

Tons of runners doing some kind of boot camp. They were doing some high intensity movements, then running up the stairs (you can see them coming out at the top) and running across the bridge. I kicked myself for not bringing my running gear. There were so many people out.

Family. My cousin was in Paris for the French Open so we went out to dinner Friday night. I hadn’t seen him in probably 8 or 10 years so it was so wonderful spending time together.

The weather was fantastic and this is one of my favorite restaurants in the summer, La Plage Parisienne. You sit outside, right on the water.

Wedding. On Saturday we went to a family wedding.

Signing the registers after the ceremony.

On the way to the reception.

Family selfie after it stopped raining.

My girls, (some of my) nieces and mother in law.

Fitness. The one thing I did not do much of was exercise. I did plank, motivated by these women (Marcia, Kim, Wendy), but my right calf / lower leg has been bothering me. I did run on Monday, run/ walked on Thursday and walked on Saturday, but I really felt I needed to take time off. With all the walking in London lugging a bag, and dancing at the wedding, I didn’t think adding extra mileage was a good idea. But I am not good about sitting still. I had to force myself to walk Saturday morning. Not once did I run. Boy was that hard.

This coming week I have no travel and am looking forward to being a bit of a homebody.

I am linking up with Holly and Tricia at Hoho runs and Misssippipiddlin for their Weekly Wrap.

Tell me one random thing about your week !

London Bridge is so pretty at night! I’ve only seen it during the day, so far. Hopefully, we’ll go back someday.

I prefer it at night. Gorgeous.

  2. I always feel jealous when I see people running or working out if I am not doing it too!

Yes, I had FOMO big time.

That photo/view from your hotel room is amazing. I loved crossing London Bridge during the marathon last month. You might want to run that one in the future. I’m jealous of your cousin being at the French Open. We attended that many years ago and absolutely loved the experience.

There were so many runners on the bridge. I so wanted to be running with them ! London marathon ? We’ll see. I need to finish NY, then we’ll see at a later date if I want to do another. The French open was cancelled today due to crappy crappy weather.

Oh, I bet you had really bad FOMO when you saw that running boot camp! I know I would have! I sure hope your calf calms down. Keep planking and stretching.

MAJOR FOMO ! It was so nice out and there were so.many.people. Ugh. Next time. I am taking a week off I think from running (which is easy at the moment because it is pouring rain). That should definitely help.

  5. Darlene May 30, 2016 at 1:35 pm Reply

I so want to go to the French Open one day…and to run in Paris, of course.

I finished a half marathon yesterday even though it was cancelled (due to extreme heat) when I was still at mile 5.

The French open is fun, but today it was cancelled ! It is pouring rain. Not fun at all. How hot was your race for it to be cancelled ?

      • Darlene May 31, 2016 at 10:51 pm Reply

It was close to 90 degrees & humid.

I’m planning on taking the 8:55 pm train home on Friday, June 24. So we could meet for dinner around 6 pm.

I plan to run in Central Park and then go to MOMA to see the Degas exhibit (it’s free at 4 pm on Fridays.)

        Looking forward to meeting you.

What a stunning view from your hotel! I hope you calf/lower leg gets better. I had an Achilles issue years ago from (I think) wearing the wrong running shoe. No fun! Everyone looks so lovely in the wedding photos. I know it was hard not to run, but you made the right choice. We’ve both got to start marathon training soon and we certainly don’t want to begin when something is not quite right. Enjoy your week at home! Thanks for linking with us Karen.

I am really taking it slow this week, which for yesterday and today its quite easy because it is pouring rain ! Not fun.

Sounds like a great week, and that your calf is better off without that boot camp workout! We ate outside t a restaurant on Monday and pollen from the trees kept falling on us!

I think my daughter saw the London Bridge, too! She had such a great time seeing all the sights on her trip to Europe, I wish I could have been there with her 😉 I’m glad to see you’re still planking! Random thing from the week? We did a quick over-nighter to my husband’s hometown for Memorial Day. We got up and ran together this morning…and I got him to do a plank with me LOL

OMG too funny your husband did a plank. I should ask my husband to do one. After many years I taught him some yoga moves and breathing exercises and now he uses them in apnea (I think that is the English name…..scuba diving without a tank). Going away on an overnight is always fun.

Yes, I had a major case of FOMO. Not sure if I would have joined them, but if I had my sneakers I would have immediately put them on. They were yelling and cheering each other on. It was great.
